Kung Fu Panda will be leading the way at the 2009 Annie Awards after landing 17 nominations ahead of the 30 January event.

DreamWorks Animation's cuddly hero beat Wall-e and Bolt as the nods were handed out on Monday.

Among its haul, Kung Fu Panda is up for Best Feature and Best Feature Directing, while voice actors James Hong, Ian McShane and Dustin Hoffman were also nominated for honours.

Wall-E scored eight nominations, while Bolt claimed five.

The three films will compete for the Best Feature prize with the acclaimed Waltz With Bashir and $9.99.

Meanwhile, King of the Hill, Moral Orel, Phineas and Ferb, Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II and The Simpsons will fight it out for the Best TV Show prize,
