Daniel Craig's mother feared her son would end up as a failed actor when he quit school to pursue a career as a thespian.
The James Bond star walked away from his education 16, missing out on the chance to go to university - much to the disappointment of his mother, Carol, who wanted him to gain some qualifications.
She says, "It must have been hard for him. He knew I had my heart set on university for him. I knew he was clever enough to go, so giving up his A-Levels (exams) wasn't an easy decision. I didn't want this to be a kind of whim. I knew he had potential. I didn't want to see it wasted."
But Carol admits that she is proud that her son has now achieved stardom by landing the role of 007.
She adds, "I knew in my heart he would make it, but you worry as a mother."
