Actress Salma Hayek left a British TV presenter red-faced on Friday when he failed to understand her Latin accent - and thought she had just outed herself as a lesbian.
The Frida star, who is half Mexican and half Lebanese, was being interviewed on live TV show This Morning when presenter Eamonn Holmes commented on her surname.
Holmes, from Northern Ireland, mused, "Hayek doesn't sound very Mexican."
Hayek responded by saying, "I'm half Lebanese" - but Holmes misheard her and said, "So you're a lesbian?", prompting the actress to burst into laughter.
She smiled and then leaned in to clarify her answer, saying slowly, "I am Lebanese."
Hayek was recently rumoured to have rekindled her romance with her ex-fiance, French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault. The former couple has a one-year-old daughter together, Valentina.
