Actor Paul Hogan is accused of distorting his residency status to avoid paying tax, in new court documents released this week (begs18Aug08).

The Crocodile Dundee star is being investigated by the Australian Crime Commission on suspicion of tax offences.

In legal papers, the commission claims there was a "scheme or conspiracy" between Hogan and his tax advisor Tony Stewart to misrepresent his status by producing "sham" travel movements.

It is alleged this was so that the star could receive money when he "was not a tax resident of any country and therefore the payment was free of tax".

Hogan, who now lives in Santa Barbara, California, has denied tax evasion and claims he has paid more than his fair share, having given money to the taxman when he didn't have to.

The Acc's investigation continues.
