Jeffrey Godsick has been named president of marketing of the new, unnamed Joint Venture between 20th Century Fox and Walden Media, established to produce and distribute family-friendly films.

A 12-year veteran of Fox, Godsick had been serving as executive vp marketing at Fox. In January, he will assume his new post, overseeing the new venture's marketing, publicity and promotions staff. He will relocate from the Fox lot to new Fox-Walden offices in Century City.

His appointment was announced Friday by Fox Filmed Entertainment vice chairman Robert Harper, Anschutz Film Group CEO David Weil and Walden Media CEO Cary Granat.

Godsick originally joined Fox as senior vp publicity and promotions before being promoted to exec vp marketing. He has overseen campaigns for such films as Independence Day, The Star Wars Trilogy Edition, The Day After Tomorrow, the X-Men films, Cast Away, Ice Age" and "Walk the Line, among others. Before joining Fox, he worked as a senior exec at Rogers & Cowan.

He first worked with the Walden team, when Fox released Because of Winn-Dixie, a coproduction with Walden, last year.
