DreamWorks' romantic comedy Just Like Heaven topped the North American boxoffice this weekend with $16.5 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. The Reese Witherspoon-Mark Ruffalo starrer opened Friday in 3,508 theaters. Last weekend's top movie, Screen Gems' The Exorcism of Emily Rose, slipped to the second spot with an approximately $15.3 million. Lions Gate's Lord of War, debuted in third place. The film, which stars Nicolas Cage as an international arms dealer, bowed with an estimated $9.2 million. Universal's hit comedy The 40-Year-Old Virgin fell to fourth place with about $5.8 million, followed by Rogue Pictures' thriller Cry_Wolf, which earnedan estimated $4.6 million in its debut weekend.
