Fran Drescher and Tony Danza are morphing again. Local reincarnations of the characters they made famous in The Nanny and Who's the Boss? are popping up all over Latin America as Sony Pictures Television International pumps up production of local versions of its sitcoms in the region. SPTI has unveiled major new deals with broadcasters in Latin American territories for local versions using indigenous actors. The deals expand an already full slate of local-language adaptations of its sitcoms, including Married ... With Children. SPTI's Brendan Fitzgerald, senior vp international production, also revealed that the company has expanded its original drama slate in Latin America with a deal for an original scripted hospital drama, Urgencias (Emergency), on the Mega network in Chile. The latest sitcom deals in the region include new versions of Married ... with Children and Who's the Boss? for Telefe in Argentina. New local-language versions of The Nanny will air on Ecuavisa in Ecuador as well as TV Azteca in Mexico.
