TORONTO -- Continuing its relationship with Warner Bros. Pictures, giant-screen exhibitor Imax Corp. said Thursday that it will launch Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with Johnny Depp, day-and-date with its conventional 35mm bow July 15. Toronto-based Imax has released The Polar Express: An IMAX 3D Experience and five other Warners pictures since last year. Imax also gave its big-screen treatment to the second and third installments of The Matrix trilogy, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Catwoman. The films were digitally remastered into the Imax format using the exhibitor's proprietary DMR technology. "We have worked with Imax on six projects in the past two years, and the boxoffice performance and response from moviegoers has been consistently outstanding for each release," Warners president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman said in a statement.
