TORONTO -- Canadian broadcaster CTV unveiled a decidedly scripted domestic production slate for its 2004-05 season Wednesday, fronted by two new dramatic series, Instant Star and Robson Arms. Toronto-based CTV, one of two private national TV networks, also renewed existing drama series Corner Gas, The Eleventh Hour and Degrassi: The Next Generation for its upcoming TV season. But CTV's production order is contingent on all new and returning TV series receiving financing from the federal government, the biggest investor in homegrown TV. CTV ordered 13 half-hours of Instant Star, a series about a 15-year-old girl who finds herself swimming in the deep end of the music industry after winning a talent contest and earning a recording contract.
