Fox's American Idol Christmas special and a special NBC airing of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy did respectable business against regularly scheduled competition Tuesday, the second to last night of the November sweep. Still, CBS and ABC split the nightly win as usual on the strength of their regular lineups, even though NBC had the night's most-watched show in 10 p.m.'s Law & Order: SVU, which brought in 13.1 million viewers and 5.0 rating/14 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. ABC's nightly win in 18-49 (4.1/11) was fueled by 8 p.m. comedy 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter (11.7 million, 4.2/13) and 9 p.m.'s According to Jim (12.1 million, 4.9/13). CBS took the night in viewers (11.8 million) with its drama lineup of Navy NCIS (12.9 million, 2.8/8), The Guardian (11 million, 2.6/7) and Judging Amy (11.6 million, 2.8/8).
