BERLIN -- In an attempt to catch up to market leader MTV in Germany, Cologne-based music channel VIVA unveiled a new program offensive Thursday that will see the group copy MTV's strategy of supplementing its regular diet of video clips with comedy and animation shows. Program highlights in the new VIVA schedule will be HBO's Da Ali G Show and animated series South Park, from Comedy Central. VIVA also will open up slots for shows produced by its subsidiary Brainpool, including Internet-themed talk show elton.tv.
