ROME -- Pedro Almodovar's powerful melodrama on romantic love and solitude, Hable Con Ella (Talk to Her), was the big winner at the 15th European Film Awards, scooping up five nods, including best film, best director and best screenwriter. "I have to share these (prizes) with all Spanish cinema," a visibly moved Almodovar said upon receiving the statuette for best film in Rome's Teatro dell'Opera on Saturday. Talk to Her also won a People's Choice award for best actor for star Javier Camara -- who in the film plays Benigno, the lonely nurse -- and the People's Choice best director award for Almodovar, who said: "Of all the prizes, this is the most meaningful. ... Without the audience I really am nothing." Talk to Her is in release stateside via Sony Pictures Classics. The Spanish film industry as a whole dominated the event, with Victoria Abril -- star of several early Almodovar films, including Kika and Tie Me Up Tie Me Down -- also getting the European Achievement in World Cinema prize.
