Liu Helps with Tsunami Aid

  • WENN
Movie beauty Lucy Liu has donated $200,000 to the victims of last month's Indian Ocean tsunami. The Charlie's Angels star, 36, was "inspired" by Egyptian millionaire Mohamed Al Fayed's generous donation to the appeal, when she opened the January sale at his Harrods department store in London last week. Liu says, "Mohamed has given more than £150,000 and as a UNICEF ambassador, it was the least I could do." Al Fayed is the father of Dodi Fayed - the late boyfriend of Diana, Princess Of Wales, who killed alongside the tragic royal in the August 1997 car crash.

CORRECTION: The $200,000 donation mentioned in the story above was given by Mohamed Al Fayed, not Lucy Liu. Ms. Liu helped open the Harrod's one day sale launch, inspired by Mr. Fayed's agreement to give 2% of the proceeds to the tsunanmi relief fund, and her quote above was in regard to her participation in the store opening. The actress will also be taking part in this weekend's United Way telethon for tsunami relief.
