The real-life Erin Brockovich's attorney has been convicted of trying to extort $310, 000 from her. Soon after the release of the movie Erin Brockovich, for which Julia Roberts won an Oscar for her role as the legal victor, attorney John Reiner approached Erin and said he wanted money on behalf of her ex-husband and former boyfriend. She was told the money would keep them from going to the media and exposing her affair with her boss Ed Masry, portrayed in the movie by Albert Finney. But both Brockovich and Masry contend there was never any affair between them, and took Reiner to court where he was convicted yesterday. Brockovich's former boyfriend and ex-husband were also arrested in the case, but the charges have now been dropped.
