‘The Flash’ Movie Getting Retooled as a ‘Flashpoint’ Adaptation; Could This Affect the Dceu?

40 minutes ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Today at the Comic-Con panel for DC, Warner Bros. revealed that their The Flash movie would be based on the 2011 comic book series Flashpoint. For those unfamiliar with the comics, which were written by Geoff Johns (who now oversees the Dceu), Flashpoint is essentially a big reset button. Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) runs so fast that he travels back in time and prevents his mother from being killed. However, thanks to The Butterfly Effect, this has major repercussions across the DC universe. The Season 3 premiere of The Flash TV series also attempted their own version of Flashpoint … »

Saturday a.m. Update: With an estimated $19.8 million, Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk is heading toward an opening weekend right around $50 million to $52 million. It's a great start for the WWII feature, especially given the holds Nolan's films have shown in recent history as well as the critical response and now the "A-" CinemaScore from opening day audiences, a notch above the "B+" audiences gave Interstellar. Additionally, Dunkirk has now been released in 46 international markets where it has so far grossed $21.2 million after releasing earlier this week in a handful of territories. We'll have more on the overall international performance with tomorrow morning's report. In second is Universal's release of Girls Trip, which is scorching the weekend, delivering an estimated $11.68 million on Friday, heading toward a $29+ million opening. Todd McFarlane Announces New 'Spawn' Movie at SDCC

22 hours ago | IMDb News

During a Facebook Live with Kevin Smith aboard the #IMDboat at Comic-Con 2017, comic-book creator Todd McFarlane dropped an exclusive: He's working with producer Jason Blum on a new Spawn movie. What's better: McFarlane has a draft of the script ready to go, he'll be making his directorial debut on the project, which will certainly be a hard-R vision of his former mercenary turned reluctant soldier of the devil.

‘Wonder Woman 2,’ ‘Suicide Squad 2’ & More DCFilms Confirmed At Comic Con

12 minutes ago | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

It’s been an interesting 48 hours for Warner Bros. and DC Films. On Friday, it was reported that Ben Affleck was leaving the Batman role, or more precisely would be phasing himself out of the role (by Kim Masters of THR who is rarely wrong, fyi). It seemed like a PR disaster; just 24 hours before the Warner Bros. Comic Con panel, it appeared as though there would be no more Affleck as Batman in the Dceu.

Trailer For ‘Riverdale’ Season 2 Welcomes The Angel Of Death

20 minutes ago | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

While I’ve never seen a single episode of “Game Of Thrones,” I’ve seen all of “Riverdale” so far. That’s right, the dark Archie Comics adaptation is my jam, and the title town is my Westeros, which means I can’t wait for the second season. I’d definitely wager that some of our readers are (secret) fans of the show too.

Spoilers ahead if you’re still catching up, but at the end of first season, Archie’s dad, played by a weathered Luke Perry, was left with a bullet in the gut.

Ben Affleck Insists He’s Still Batman at ‘Justice League’ Sdcc Panel

27 minutes ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

I really really want Justice League to be good. I’m the guy who’s watched Batman v Superman four times (don’t ask) – and after the fourth viewing, I almost Stockholm’ed’ myself into liking it. BvS is such an interesting and personal misfire, a film that both dares to deconstruct its superheroes while at the same time setting them up for a ‘bazillion’ sequels, a film that positions Superman as both a Christ-like Messiah and a Selfish Randian Objectivist, and a film where the hero (Batman) and villain (Lex) both have the exact same motivation (i.e. … »

Ben Affleck Denies Rumors He Is Exiting ‘Batman’

46 minutes ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Ben Affleck addressed rumors that he is leaving the DC Comics Extended Universe as Batman during the Warner Bros. panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday. The “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” actor confirmed his intentions to remain playing the “coolest f—–g character in any universe.”

Affleck also added that there were “misconceptions” amongst fans that he didn’t appreciate “The Batman” because he wasn’t the one directing it. “I would be a f—–g ape on the ground for [director] Matt Reeves,” he joked.

Warner Bros. also used the panel to debut a new poster for “Justice League.” In the photo, Batman is joined by Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, and the Flash — although it’s worth noting that Batman is the only hero whose face is concealed by their mask.

Talk about intense. The Justice League team dropped a new trailer during Warner Bros.’ Comic-Con session; an event that ended with Jason Momoa afterward (Aquaman) becoming so excited, he tossed a chair onstage and picked up Ezra Miller (The Flash) by the midsection. “This is how we roll,” Gal Gadot told moderator Chris Hardwick. In the trailer a group of assassins enter a building full of school children. Wonder Woman blasts through the door and saves them taking out… »

‘Aquaman': Jason Momoa Rocks the Sdcc Stage and Reveals First Footage [Updated]

51 minutes ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Oh, Aquaman! The belabored superhero has always been a bit of a punch line. Superman can fly; The Flash can run fast; Wonder Woman has super-strength; and Aquaman can, well, umm…talk to fish. He doesn’t quite seem to be in the same ballpark as his fellow Justice Leaguers. The bright orange swimsuit also doesn’t do him any favors. But the Dceu has taken to rehabilitating Aquaman’s image, shedding that bright orange costume in favor of some good ol’ fashioned bare muscle (courtesy of Jason Momoa). It’s perhaps no coincidence that if you lined up … »

‘Blade Runner 2049’ Sdcc Panel Recap: Harrison Ford Promises to Reboot All His Franchises

1 hour ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

On paper – a sequel to Blade Runner seems like a pretty terrible idea. So much of the allure of Blade Runner comes from its ambiguity, from the fact that twenty years later people still debate whether Deckard is a replicant, from its notoriously troubled production and the seemingly infinite number of cuts Ridley Scott or the studio try to sell to the masses as the definitive take; but there is no definitive take. Blade Runner’s ambiguous state of being is (in and of itself) the point. The mystery is what makes it so enduring and cool. So why make … »

Ben Affleck Shrugs Off The Rumors He’s Leaving ‘The Batman’ Role

Yesterday, the geek world was rocked when it was reported that Ben Affleck was hanging up the cape and cowl as Batman after “Justice League.” Of course, nothing was official, but Kim Masters at The Hollywood Reporter is a veteran who knows her stuff, but nonetheless, Dceu fans held firm that the report was unsubstantiated. Well, today, they have some good news from Affleck himself. Sort of.

The actor swung through San Diego Comic Con for his obligatory stint plugging “Justice League,” and addressed the rumors he was saying farewell as Batman, by saying the following:

"I would be a fucking ape on the ground for Matt Reeves," says Affleck.
