The new season of "Dexter" premieres on Sunday night, and with Season 8 confirmed as the series' final one, the question on everyone's mind is whether or not Dexter (Michael C. Hall) will make it through.
"Dexter has been playing faster and looser with the code for some time now, and I think there's some unconscious desire to reveal himself and that may manifest itself through reckless behavior," Hall told TV Guide.
Less cryptically, Jennifer Carpenter, who plays Deb, said she had a feeling Dexter wouldn't die. "At the end of the season? No," she said. "Someday? Yes, because we all do."
As for how fans will react to the finale season and Dexter's fate, Ep Sara Colleton knows she won't be pleasing everyone.
"We all know that no matter what we do there are going to be a lot of people who are unhappy with it," she told The Hollywood Reporter. »

Less than 15 minutes into the 2013 Bet Awards, Don Cheadle took to the stage to present the award for Best Male R&B Pop Artist. But before he could give Miguel the award, he took a moment to honor an ailing hero: Nelson Mandela.
"This evening we would like to offer prayers and support and hope to the extraordinary Nelson Mandela and his family, and to the people of South Africa," Cheadle says to applause from the crowd. "Mr. Mandela, we salute you and we wish you well."
Mandela is currently hospitalized, and millions around the world have held vigil for the anti-apartheid former South African president. The 94-year-old's health is reportedly deteriorating, but his daughter Makaziwe came forward recently to say all hope is not lost. "I won't lie, it doesn't look good," she said. "But as I say, if we speak to him, he responds and tries to open his eyes. »

In an exclusive sit-down interview with Access Hollywood, the Jackson family matriarch opened up about her thoughts on the show and how she's coping with the four-year anniversary of her superstar son's death.
"It was so amazing. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen," Katherine told Access of "Michael Jackson One by Cirque du Soleil." "Very good. Very good show."

Mariners fly gay pride flag during game and make baseball history

The Seattle Mariners have made history. After announcing they would do so earlier in the week, the professional baseball team became the first to ever fly a rainbow gay pride flag.
The historic event took place on June 30 at Safeco Field, only days after the Supreme Court made landmark decisions rule the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional and overturn Prop 8. The flag is included alongside flags for away team the Chicago Cubs and the American flag, and was placed on the pole where the Washington flag is usually hung.
It's not a coincidence that this Lgbt-friendly move took place on the same day as Seattle's 39th annual Pride Parade. The Mariners have a history of supporting gay rights in the past, but have reportedly never been asked to fly the flag. Meanwhile, the City of Seattle has been flying the gay pride flag over City Hall since June 1 to celebrate gay pride month. »

Jessica Simpson is a mom again. The singer reportedly has given birth to her second child, a baby boy named Ace Knute Johnson.
Us Weekly reports that Simpson gave birth by scheduled C-section in Los Angeles on June 30. "Mom and baby are doing great," a rep says.
Simpson and fiancé Eric Johnson are no strangers to unconventional baby names, having named their 14-month-old daughter Maxwell. They did the same again with Ace, as his middle name is pronounced "Ka-nute." Knute is the name of Johnson's paternal grandfather.
Though Simpson and Johnson were engaged in Fall 2010, they've had to put a wedding on hold twice due to their two children. Now that Simpson has given birth to their second baby, the couple is planning to get married soon. »

Cirque du Soleil performer falls and dies during Las Vegas show

For the first time since Cirque du Soleil was founded in 1984, a performer has died during one of the company's shows. A female acrobat was killed after falling 50 feet during a performance for MGM Grand's "Ka" on June 29.
The performer has been identified as Sarah Guillot-Guyard, a 31-year-old mother of two. The Las Vegas Sun reports that she was born in Paris and was an acrobat for 22 years. Cirque du Soleil officials are expected to release a comment later on June 30.
Needless to say, the show was cancelled after the woman fell. The performer was suspended by a wire during a portion of the show and spectators say that the "wire snapped," causing her to fall. The Las Vegas Sun, meanwhile, says Guillot-Guyard "slipped free of her safety wire."
