British stage and screen actor Tim Curry is recovering at his home in Los Angeles after suffering a major stroke on Thursday Night, according to the Daily Mail. The 67-year-old star of 1975's "Rocky Horror Picture Show" is said to be "doing great" following the collapse. "He absolutely can speak and is recovering at this time and in great humor," his longtime agent, Marcia Hurwitz, told the paper. Actor Tim Curry reportedly suffered a major stroke Thursday (May 24), though he is said to be recovering in his home. The news was first reported by the Daily Mail, who spoke with his longtime agent, Marcia Hurwitz.
"Tim is doing great," she says of the 67-year-old actor, "He absolutely can speak and is recovering at this time and in great humor." Curry first rose to fame for his starring role in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," in which he played Dr. Frank N. Furter.
In addition to his film career, Curry is a noted stage actor, where he originally played his "Rocky Horror" character. He was last set to take on the role of The Player in a 2011 production of "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead." He had to bow out at the last minute however, citing ill health. Well that was a bit anticlimactic. Amanda Bynes has been released from court with no bail after her reported bong-throwing incident. The reason for her release? She said the drug paraphernalia wasn't actually a bong.
According to TMZ, Bynes told the judge that she object she threw out of her apartment window was "just a vase" -- though why she would do that is yet to be revealed. Bynes was given a new July court date and the promise of an arrest warrant if she misses it.
In the criminal complaint filed against Bynes, the officer who reported to the scene to arrest the troubled actress wrote, "I observed [Bynes] grab said bong, run to the westbound-facing window, and throw it out the window where numerous pedestrians were walking on the 8 Avenue and West 47 Street sidewalks below."
Bynes was spotted leaving the New York City court on her own and heading home in a taxi. »

Borders gift cards worthless according to new ruling

If you're one of the many people who didn't spend your Borders gift cards before the bookstore went under, you're out of luck. A judge has ruled that Borders gift cards are worthless despite the fact that there is reportedly $210.5 million of unredeemed money floating around out there.
Borders filed for bankruptcy and closed in 2011, and a Manhattan federal judge has now determined that it would be "unfair to other creditors of the former Borders Group Inc to let gift card holders pursue recoveries from the bankruptcy estate," Reuters reports. About 17.7 million gift cards were reportedly outstanding when Borders closed its doors.
This decision upholds a similar one made in August 2012. The judge ruled that forcing Borders' other creditors to pay up for the unredeemed balances "could upset liquidation by Borders' bankruptcy trustee that is already 'substantially' completed," Reuters says.

Gawker editor-in-chief John Cook has stirred up a lot of trouble for Toronto Mayor Rob Ford recently, alleging that a video exists of Ford inhaling from what appears to be a crack pipe. Like everyone else (except the Toronto Star), Huffington Post has not seen one frame of the video that Cook claims he got to watch after making a special trip to Toronto from New York, based on an email from a tipster.
Cook is adamant that what he saw is real and, in keeping with their penchant for sensationalized news reporting, Gawker has started a crowdfunded "Crackstarter" campaign to raise $200,000 to buy this video from the drug dealers he says currently own it. Though Gawker is forewarning people that they may not actually be able to acquire the video, if they do publish it all hell will break loose in Canada.

Amanda Bynes' public meltdown has finally landed the actress in jail. Bynes was arrested Thursday night (May 23) for reckless endangerment, possession of marijuana and felony tampering with evidence after police. In Touch is reporting that Bynes actually called 911 during the incident, afraid that the responding officers were going to assault her.
Prior to being booked, the actress was taken to Roosevelt Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. The 27-year-old starlet then appeared in court Friday morning -- sporting a lovely platinum blonde wig.
No word yet on what the sentence is for the troubled star, who is already serving three years probation for driving with a suspended license and is still facing a DUI charge stemming from an April 2012 incident.
