James Arterberry is a cinematographer, writer, director, and producer.
A former Lieutenant in the United States Navy, James served for seven years with four overseas deployments to the Asia-Pacific theater, specializing in Surface Warfare, High-Speed Navigation, and Public Affairs Videography. Pursuing a life-long dream to work in film, James followed up his military career by attending Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts where he earned a Masters of Fine Arts in Cinematography in 2021.
James' short films have played at film festivals all over the world to include the American Black Film Festival (ABFF), NoT film festival in Italy, The Phoenix Film Festival, and Crested Butte Film Festival. His recent directorial debut, Cinemeta, featured a cast and crew made up entirely of military veterans in the arts and was accepted into the 2023 Veteran Made Film Competition (VMFC).
An active member of Veterans in Media and Entertainment (VME) and the Hollywood Post 43 American Legion, James advocates for the hiring of military veterans in key creative positions on film sets both at home in Los Angeles and abroad.
