The Glenroy Brothers
- Actor
The Glenroy Brothers had very little to do with the development of filmmaking, but in 1894 the renowned inventor Thomas Edison had them perform in two of his Kinetoscope features: "The Glenroy Brothers: Comic Boxing" and the followup to it, "The Glenroy Brothers No 2." In both of them the two brothers would perform their Vaudeville act of "The Tramp & the Athlete" where one brother would dress in a white outfit to be an athlete while the other would wear a shaggy pair of overalls like a tramp. It was said that their boxing was meant to be more comedic than like a sport, but the two films they made with Edison have taken their place among the many boxing match films that the company released.
The second film featuring the Glenroy Brothers does indeed survive, but their first film from the Edison company is presumed lost.
