NBC News correspondent Antonia Hylton has revealed that she was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer, a neuroendocrine tumor.
The symptoms manifested about two years ago, the 30-year-old Hylton said in a Today interview. She started having stomach issues.
“It was easy for me to just write it off,” Hylton said.. “I travel. I’m on planes (and) maybe I don’t have the best diet. But I love what I do, so it’s worth it, and I’m not going to let these symptoms hold me back.”
A segment on the Today show about Craig Melvin’s brother’s death because of colon cancer was her wakeup call.
“Something about that really stuck with me,” she said. That and a TikTok video of a woman diagnosed with colon cancer at 24 resonated with Hylton.
Meanwhile, her symptoms were getting worse. “I was waking up (and) my face was swollen.

The team behind the Southlake podcast are debuting a new NBC News Studios series, Grapevine, set to debut on Oct. 4.
NBC News’ Mike Hixenbaugh and Antonia Hylton host the six-episode series, about a teacher and transgender teenager who are “caught up in the crossfire of the Grapevine-Colleyville school district’s anti-trans policy,” per the network. The series highlights the anti-trans movement across the country, including Christian conservative figures who have pressured lawmakers and school boards.
The Southlake podcast in 2021 was the story of the racial and cultural disputes that divided the suburb of Southlake, Texas. The targeting of critical race theory led to book bans in school district libraries, something that has been repeated in a number of communities across the U.S. The podcast won a Peabody award last year and was a Pulitzer finalist.

Updated: Journalists from Ukraine were recognized with a 2022 Pulitzer Prize special citation, while jurors of journalism’s top honors also recognized coverage of the January 6th attacks on the Capitol, the withdrawal from Afghanistan and the Surfside condominium collapse in Florida.

The New York Times won three prizes in national reporting, international reporting and criticism. Marcus Yam, photographer at the Los Angeles Times, won for breaking news photography of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. NBC News’ newest programs won’t be appearing on NBC, MSNBC or CNBC.
In April, four new NBC News programs will debut on Quibi, the short-form video service launched by media entrepreneur Jeffrey Katzenberg. And the four programs – “Morning Report,” “Evening Report,” “Saturday Report” and “Sunday Report,” – offer different things to subscribers based on what they are most likely to crave at certain moments in their daily or weekly routines. The programs are likely to last five to eight minutes, depending on when they air and the subjects they tackle.
“This is going to have the DNA of NBC, the flavor of NBC News,” says Madeleine Haeringer, an NBC News senior executive producer who oversees the news division’s partnership with Quibi, in an interview. But the productions involve people who “come from the network as well as people who come from the outside, from digital, and we want to combine,...
