Joe Biden’s campaign has enlisted Robert De Niro to narrate his latest ad, one that warns that Donald Trump has “snapped” since leading the White House and wants to “terminate the Constitution.”
The 30-second spot will be part of the campaign’s paid media buy for May, airing in broadcast markets in battleground states and on national cable. It also will be featured on digital platforms in battleground states. The spot will start being show today.
De Niro is one of Trump’s most outspoken critics, speaking out about him on talk shows and in awards appearances, and the actor’s use of expletives often get the most attention.
“From midnight tweets, to drinking bleach, to tear-gassing citizens, and staging a photo op. We knew Trump was out of control when he was president,” De Niro says in the spot.
“Then he lost the 2020 election – and snapped. Desperately trying to hold onto power.

Donald Trump said that his campaign has agreed to participate in a vice presidential debate — but on Fox News.
His statement came a day after Joe Biden’s presidential campaign said that Vice President Kamala Harris had accepted CBS News’ invitation for a debate, either on July 23 or Aug. 13.
In a message on Truth Social, his social media platform, Trump wrote, “On behalf of the future Vice President of the United States, who I have not yet chosen, we hereby accept the Fox Vice Presidential Debate, hopefully at Virginia State University, the first Historically Black College or University to host a Debate – Date to be determined. I urge Vice President Kamala Harris to agree to this. Make America Great Again!” Trump didn’t say anything about the CBS News invite.

Hours after Joe Biden and Donald Trump’s campaigns swiftly finalized plans for two presidential debates, the president’s team is already warning that his rival is “playing games.”
“No more chaos, no more debate about debates,” Biden campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a statement this afternoon.
It came after Trump posted on Truth Social that he had agreed to another debate, beyond the two, that would be hosted by Fox News on Oct. 2 and moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.
Earlier today, both campaigns said that they had agreed to participate in a June 27 debate hosted by CNN and a September 10 debate hosted by ABC News. Biden released a video this morning challenging Trump to two debates, much earlier in the election year schedule than have traditionally been held.

President Biden is making content creators a major part of his re-election campaign–so much so that they might get their own briefing room in the White House.
Axios reports that the Biden administration is connecting with hundreds of content creators across platforms, including news-focused TikToker (and NYU student) Harry Sisson; historian and Boston College professor Heather Cox Richardson, who’s on Substack and Twitter; and Vivian Tu, a former stocks trader who’s now big on FinTok and Instagram.
The goal is to reach potential voters who don’t follow Democratic accounts (like the official White House account) or Democratic legislators/candidates on social media.
And, perhaps surprisingly, the campaign isn’t exclusively prioritizing reaching Gen Z voters.
“We’re trying to reach young people, but also moms who use different platforms to get information and climate activists and people whose main way of getting information is digital,” Jen O’Malley Dillon,...

On November 7, when media outlets announced Joe Biden as the next President of the United States, his video team was ready to pounce. At 11:52 a.m., less than 15 minutes after the last cable network made its call, Biden’s social channels unleashed a nearly two-minute montage of Ray Charles singing “America the Beautiful,” with poetic images of diverse Americans across the country, many of whom grasped golden picture frames. That motif was an extension of work by visual artist Lorraine O’Grady, who endorsed the project well ahead of Election Day.
“We finished it one week before the election and we had decided to position it as a video that we’d run after we won,” said Andrew Gauthier, the video director for the Biden campaign, “understanding that there was a chance we wouldn’t be able to run it.”
It was worth the risk. The video, which has...

Update, 3:10 Pm: Once again Twitter has publicly chastised Donald Trump for spreading information that is “disputed and might be misleading about an election or other civic process,” as the incumbent declares he was won key states in the Presidential election.
In a series of tweets today, the former Celebrity Apprentice host anointed himself the victor in still undecided Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina and alleged that there was “a large number of secretly dumped ballots” in the trio of states.
For the fifth time in the last 24 hours, the Jack Dorsey-run social media platform essentially said “whoa there Potus.”
…..there was a large number of secretly dumped ballots as has been widely reported!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 4, 2020
The incumbent’s tweets came after his son Eric, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, and his reelection campaign’s feed all put out posts of Trump winning the Keystone State.

Joe Biden’s campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon has slammed Donald Trump’s premature victory and voter fraud claim as “outrageous, unprecedented, and incorrect.”
O’Malley Dillon said in a statement: “It was outrageous because it is a naked effort to take away the democratic rights of American citizens.
It was unprecedented because never before in our history has a president of the United States sought to strip Americans of their voice in a national election. Having encouraged Republican efforts in multiple states to prevent the legal counting of these ballots before Election Day, now Donald Trump is saying these ballots can’t be counted after Election Day either.
And it was incorrect because it will not happen. The counting will not stop. It will continue until every duly cast vote is counted. Because that is what our laws — the laws that protect every Americans’ constitutional right to vote — require.

Update: Joe Biden’s presidential campaign said that a third individual, a member of the aviation company that charters the former vice president’s aircraft, tested positive.
Campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a statement, “Vice President Biden was not in close contact, as defined by the CDC, with this individual at any time. In fact, the Vice President did not even have passing contact: this individual was over 50 feet from VP Biden at all times, entered and exited the aircraft from a rear entrance, and both the individual and the Vice President wore masks for the entire flight. Given these facts, we have been advised by the Vice President’s doctor and the campaign’s medical advisors that there is no need for the Vice President to quarantine.”

Joe Biden's presidential campaign says it is spending $280 million to reserve TV and digital advertising time across the country, in what campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon says is the "largest presidential campaign advertising time reservation in history."
As is usually the case in presidential election years, the lion's share of the ad spend is in states that the campaign believes will be competitive. But in a memo outlining the ad buy, O'Malley Dillon also notes that it includes national TV buys on broadcast and cable.

The Democratic National Convention will still take place in Milwaukee over four nights in August, but in a smaller venue and with much of the programming coming virtually from around the country.
Former Vice President Joe Biden will accept the nomination for president from The Wisconsin Center, rather than the larger Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, while state delegations are being told to not to plan to travel to the city out of ongoing concerns over the coronavirus. The changes raise the prospect that delegates will cast their votes for president and vice president, as well as other party business, remotely.
As it stands now, the Aug. 17-20 convention will look different than the Republican National Convention scheduled a week later, with plans proceeding for an event in which President Donald Trump will accept the nomination before rally-sized crowds. Joe Biden’s president campaign said on Monday that he has committed to three presidential debates this fall, while criticizing Donald Trump’s team for their rationale for earlier meet ups.
In a letter to the Commission on Presidential Debates, Biden’s campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon wrote, “Our position is straightforward and clear: Joe Biden will accept the Commission’s debates, on the Commission’s dates, under the Commission’s established format and the Commission’s independent choice of moderators. Donald Trump and Mike Pence should do the same.”
As they have in previous cycles, the Commission on Presidential Debates scheduled dates for three presidential debates even before the nomination process started. In October, they announced that debates would be held on Sept. 29, Oct. 15 and Oct. 22, with a vice presidential debate scheduled for Oct. 7.
