Matthew Sorvillo was born and raised in Queens, New York. He now lives and works in Brooklyn with his fiancee, Diana, her cat, Alley, and his Dog, Hero.
The script for his psychological thriller, Edgewater, was an Official Selection of both the 2018 Catalina Film Festival and the 2018 SmashCut Screenplay Competition, and was the inaugural winner of the 2018 StudioFest Film Festival. Financed by StudioFest, his debut feature, the dramatic thriller Souvenirs, was a Top 10 Redbox kiosk rental for the week of Halloween in 2020.
Though constantly working on scripts for both film and television, Matthew is also making the transition to develop comic book projects as well. In 2018 he contributed to Image Comics' "Where We Live", a benefit anthology exploring themes of gun violence in America, which raised over $125,000 for the victims and families of the tragic October 1st shooting in Las Vegas, NV, and which was nominated for the 2019 Eisner award for best anthology.
