Hassaan Khan is a Cinematographer/Editor from Toronto, Canada. Born in Karachi, Pakistan; Hassaan was always passionate about technology and media. During his early years, he wanted to pursue a career in an engineering field. He got involved in making comedy You Tube videos where his friends Armaan Khan, Talha Hassan, Malik Zaighum, Rafid Riaz, Arslan Ali, Pawan Rughani and Shahroze Saeed, who would act in the videos and he would record/edit the videos, and publish them through his brand "Khanzada Productions".
These videos got him a few followers, and later he got connected with a local singer/writer from Scarborough, Shahaab Sheikh through a mutual Facebook friend. Hassaan shot a few music videos for Shahaab Sheikh and helped Shahaab with his music video editing.
Later on, Shahaab invested in a DSLR and invited Hassaan to help him shoot a music video for another Scarborough rapper, Jae Lejit. After a successful video shoot, Shahaab brought the idea of starting a media production company as partners.
Khizzer Kamran, a family friend of Hassaan, suggested calling the company "Crystal Productions", and they launched the company as "Crystal Media" (formally 416crystalmedia).
Hassaan worked at Cineplex Odeon Queensway on the weekends and saved up enough for a DSLR himself. Hassaan and Shahaab continue working with Jae Lejit and started building connections with various people and organizations. They get their first few gigs from Andre Vashist, who was a social worker and an MC. Later on, at one of Andre's after school programs, they were introduced to Jordon Viera. Jordon was hosting a spoken-word event monthly, and he brought them on to record performances and create a highlight video for his company "Spoke N' Heard".
At this point, Hassaan was much more interested in media production rather than engineering, and that is when he planned to pursue his career as a Cinematographer and an Editor. Shahaab was introduced to Clinton Reid, who launched an in-house media company for Toronto Community Housing called "RAW Media". Clinton Reid hired Hassaan and Shahaab and would allow them to use his cameras and equipment for personal shoots. This additional equipment was used as a multi-camera setup for Crystal Media, and was a selling point to Spoke N' Heard.
Crystal Media would gain attention by people because of the snappy, on beat editing style that they possessed. This editing style grabbed other Toronto artist's attention. This resulted in long term relations with various artists such as Hassan Shah, Jae Lejit, Grainz, Mobi Mawla, Nabeel Khan, Chai-Town (Chicago) and Casey Garcia.
Hassaan got enrolled in Ryerson University, Film Studies; and continued to work on his cinematography. He worked on a short film "Outrun", directed by Michael Boroda in 2014. He became close friends with a director/producer, Dexter Benson-Barnett and co-produced a short film "Moon" (2016).
Hassaan Khan is currently working on a few different short films that provide a different perspective to the audience.
