She studied experimental psychology at Cambridge University. During WWII, she developed tests for radar operators. When her husband was hired by the University of Montreal, the couple moved to Canada. She completed her PhD at McGill University. She was hired by the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital, where she started out working with patients with epilepsy.
