Mark Taylor is a Texas born actor and musician. He was raised in the farming community of Webberville, Texas, located just outside Austin in Travis County, Texas. He is a 1983 graduate of Del Valle High School, Del Valle, Texas. He earned his B.S. in Ag Journalism from Texas A&M University (1987) and an M.S. in Ag Education/Adult Education from Texas A&M University (2003). He has performed numerous lead roles in Texas theaters, including The Theatre Company of Bryan/College Station, StageCenter (Bryan, TX), The Navasota Theatre Alliance (Navasota, TX) and the Burleson County Old Post Office (Caldwell, TX).
"The Tenor" is Taylor's first, finished short film.
Taylor is the composer of the musical "Esther: For Such A Time As This." The musical sold out four performances for The Theatre Company of Bryan/College Station (Texas) in January 2011 and is available on iTunes and Amazon.com. Taylor has also written a musical entitled, "Corazon," based on the events surrounding the 1986 EDSA Revolution in The Philippines.
In 2013, the City of College Station, TX commissioned Taylor to write a musical for its annual Christmas At The Creek festival. Taylor wrote an produced "Santa's Texas Christmas Vacation Celebration," starring Garry Nation (Santa), Mandy Walker (Mrs. Claus), and Matt Kriger (Blinkle) in 2013 and 2014. The show included five original songs.
Taylor performed in Neil Berg's "Phantoms of the Opera" concert at Texas A&M University (April 2013), directed by Mark Kudisch and starring Broadway favorites, Rebecca Pitcher, George Lee Andrews, Dustin Brayley, Danny Zolil, Sandra Joseph, Brad Little, and Carter Calvert.
In December 2013 and 2014, Taylor performed a one-man version of Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Carol" at the Old Post Office (Caldwell, TX), featuring 17 different voices in a single performance.
Taylor is also a featured writer for Texas Living magazine.
