Frannie Holder is an accomplished singer, songwriter, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and stage director from Montreal. A founding member of pop/hip-hop group Random Recipe and electro-folk band Dear Criminals, the highly versatile artist began her music career in 2007.
Focusing on their live show, the critically acclaimed Random Recipe quickly began playing concerts all around the world. For their part, Dear Criminals are renowned for employing a multidisciplinary creative process that includes collaborations with theatre, contemporary dance, opera, digital arts and film productions. The music they composed for the feature film NELLY won them the IRIS for Best Original Score at the Gala Québec Cinéma in 2017.
Independent of her music groups, Frannie provided sound design for the plays La déesse des mouches à feu (by Geneviève Pettersen, directed by Patrice Dubois and Alix Dufresne, in 2018), Déclarations (by Jordan Tannahill, directed by Mélanie Demers, 2022), Neecheemus and Nigamon/Tunai (by director Émilie Monnet, 2023), JUDY (by director Gabrielle Lessard) and the contemporary dance shows La Poursuite du cyclone (by Ève Magot, 2019), La Goddam Voie Lactée and Confession publique (by Mélanie Demers, 2021).
Frannie also composed the music for the series Trop (by Marie-Andrée Labbé, 2019), Motel Paradis (by Sophie Deraspe and Stéphane Hogue, 2022) and Pour toi Flora (by Sonia Bonspille Boileau, 2022), as well as the soundtracks for the feature films Noémie dit oui (by Geneviève Albert (2022) and Au Nord d'Albany (by Marianne Farley, 2022). She created the musical soundscapes for the short film Frimas (by Marianne Farley, 2021) and the documentaries Territoires des Amériques (by Patrick Bossé, 2021) and Caresses Magiques (by Lori Malépart-Traversy, 2021).
