Jackson Malle is an anthropologist, screenwriter, and documentary film producer. Jackson was born and raised in Los Angeles to actress, television director, and independent filmmaker Dorothy Lyman, and Vincent Malle, a Franco-American film producer and brother of Louis Malle. After completing his MA in French Studies from New York University in 2008, he spent a year as a photo assistant for French photographer Brigitte Lacombe, doing portraits and reportage work on film shoots, before returning to academia for his PhD in Cultural Anthropology from SUNY Binghamton (degree expected 2016). His research involves an ethnographic account of the six months he spent working as an on-set personal chef to a prominent film director. More recently, Jackson financed and produced a documentary on the Malle/Beghin family and their involvement in the sugar industry in the north of France.
