Film Review: ‘Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween’

Film Review: ‘Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween’
In his career as a writer, director, actor, mogul, and one-man filmmaking factory, Tyler Perry has given us shamelessly over-the-top demon-yuppie melodrama; exuberantly dirty-minded dress-up burlesque; squeaky-clean family soap opera; a rare bid for prestige with his 2010 adaptation of “For Colored Girls”; and, in last year’s “Boo! A Madea Halloween,” his message-movie version of a fright-night comedy. But with “Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween,” Perry pushes into novel terrain. He has made a slasher movie, or a satire of a slasher movie, or the world’s most purposefully ineffectual slasher movie, or something. Even if you’re just looking for a Tyler Perry night out, be afraid, be very afraid. (One qualification: Uncle Joe gets some tasty nasty lines.)

On her 18th birthday, Tiffany (Diamond White), the parochial-school heroine of the first “Boo!,” with her normal-girl-meets-Teen-Vogue generic Barbie-doll hauteur, is invited to another Halloween frat party thrown by the geek muscleheads of Upsilon Theta. Perry

If You Want It: Tyler Perry's 'Boo 2! A Madea Halloween' Official Trailer

"People got dead up there for real!" Oh boy, here we go again... Lionsgate has revealed the trailer for the newest Tyler Perry joint, another Madea comedy (sequel) titled Boo 2! A Madea Halloween. This is, obviously enough, a sequel to the goofy Halloween comedy Boo! A Madea Halloween release just last year. Tyler Perry not only returns to write and direct, but also star again as Madea (and Joe and Brian). The cast includes Cassi Davis, Patrice Lovely, Chandra Currelley, Yousef Erakat, Diamond White, Lexy Panterra, and Andre Hall. The plot involves Madea, Bam & Hattie going to a haunted campground where they find monsters, goblins, and the boogeyman. As much as I have absolutely no interest in these movies, I have to give them props on the amusing poster design. Other than that, if you want to watch then go ahead. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Tyler Perry's Boo 2! A Madea Halloween,

Tyler Perry Returns in Boo 2! a Madea Halloween This October

Tyler Perry Returns in Boo 2! a Madea Halloween This October
Before the holiday weekend gets under way, Lionsgate set new release dates for a pair of its upcoming projects. First up, the studio has handed out an October 20, 2017 release date for Boo 2! A Madea Halloween, a follow-up to last year's Boo! A Madea Halloween, from star/writer/director Tyler Perry. The studio also slated the new Aardman Animation stop-motion film Early Man for release on February 16, 2018. Unfortunately for both of those projects, they land on very competitive weekends.

Over the last few years, the third weekend in October has become increasingly crowded, but last year, Boo! A Madea Halloween managed to come out on top with a box office win of $28.5 million, easily beating three more newcomers, 20th Century Fox's Keeping Up With the Joneses, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and Ouija: Origins of Evil. However, it only earned $73.2 million domestically and just $1.6 million internationally for a worldwide total of $74.8 million,

YouTube Star Yousef “FouseyTUBE” Erakat Talks About Depression In Emotional Return To Vlog Channel

For close to six months, the FouseyTUBE and DOSEofFOUSEY YouTube channels, both of which star Yousef Erakat, were dormant. Erakat, who has often been open with his viewers about his struggle with mental illness, has taken short breaks from YouTube in the past, but his recent half-year hiatus marked his most significant departure from his fans to date.

Now, Erakat has returned to his DOSEofFOUSEY channel with a new video. In it, he explains the reason for his long absence, talks about his battle with depression, and vows to return with new content.

As he tells his fans, the strong reactions he had received from viewers worsened his mental state. “Every single day I chose not to pick up this camera is because I’m terrified,” he says. “I’m terrified about what the world has to say about me, I’m terrified about how people perceive me, and I

Boo! A Madea Halloween Review

Tyler Perry never tries to make a horror comedy out of Boo! A Madea Halloween. Don’t be fooled by promotional posters spoofing The Exorcist, Halloween and other classic horror films. Madea is as Madea does, and she’s back for another preachy sermon about how kids these days need a swift kick in the ass. You know, like in the good old days when Madea was stripping on a pole like a real ratchet hoe (her words). It’s more of the same Christian tomfoolery and annoying “Hallelujer!” exclamations – just with spooky masks and Halloween themes this time around. Expectations, meet G-rated haunted house mediocrity featuring lippy PG-13 elders.

Perry is back in drag as America’s favorite senior sass-queen, enlisted this time to babysit a group of misbehaving teens. Tiffany (Diamond White), a 17-year-old high school student, wants to attend the local frathouse’s “epic” Halloween party with

Film Review: ‘Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween’

Film Review: ‘Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween’
Tiffany (Diamond White), the spoiled princess heroine of “Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween,” is 17 years old, which means that she must have been around five when Perry’s first movie came out. It’s a sign of how the world has evolved since then that “Boo!” opens with a sequence set in a mostly white fraternity, Upsilon Theta, on the day of its annual Halloween bash. Tiffany, trying to win the approval of her two older (white) friends, will wind up sneaking out of her house, joining the party, and narrowly avoid being pounced on by Jonathan (Yousef Erakat), the frat president who looks like a geek Vin Diesel. But there isn’t a moment in any of this that involves so much as a buried hint of racial awareness. (Unless, of course, you count the fact that half of the film’s frat boys talk like “gangstas.

YouTube star Yousef Erakat is just starting to dip his toes in the world of feature films, most notably working with Tyler Perry on this week’s “Boo! The way he works, he works very fast, so there were times on set when I didn’t feel comfortable in my performance and he was like, ‘We’re moving on,’ meaning he got it. I had the trust from early on.” But Erakat
