Jared Leto Joins 'Blade Runner 2's Already Stacked Cast

18 August 2016 6:00 PM, PDT | Movies.com | See recent Movies.com news »

There aren't very many major characters in the first Blade Runner. You've got Harrison Ford as the replicant hunter, Deckard, and then a small handful of people, most of whom don't survive the movie very long. As massive as Ridley Scott's movie is in its scope, it's actually a rather small story. If the cast list for Blade Runner 2 is any indication, however, things are definitely going to be bigger this time around.  Jared Leto is the latest to join, which brings us to a running list that includes Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hooks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, David Dastmalchian, Hiam AbbassLennie James and Dave Bautista. Granted we don't know how big of a role any of these actors - including...

Suicide Squad's Jared Leto Joins Anticipated Blade Runner Sequel

18 August 2016 12:49 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

For a while, it seemed like actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto was all but done with acting. He'd always kept his acting roles well-curated, but following his 2009 role in Mr. Nobody, he took a long break. It wasn't until 2013's Dallas Buyer's Club (and his subsequent Oscar win) that he seemed to have a bit of an acting resurgence. He signed on as the Joker in Suicide Squad, as well as the rest of the Dceu, giving him more exposure than ever before.

Leto seems to be continuing that trend, as according to SuperHeroHype, the actor is set to join the anticipated sequel to Ridley Scott's 1982 film, Blade Runner. He will be joining a cast that includes Harrison Ford (reprising his role from the original film), Ryan Gosling (in a new, unspecified leading role), Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, »

What is known is that Ford will reprise his role as Rick Deckard, a detective in Los Angeles who in the 1982 original was tasked with hunting down four escaped replicants — synthetic humans who’d become dangerously self-aware. Villeneuve’s sequel takes place several decades after Ridley Scott’s 2019-set science-fiction benchmark. The Quebecois filmmaker has become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after in recent years; after earning an Oscar nomination for “Incendies,” he transitioned to English-language fare with “Prisoners.” He has since directed “Enemy, »

Suicide Squad Actor Jared Leto Joins The Cast Of Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner Sequel

18 August 2016 12:16 PM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

We all figured the cast was finalized for this one already, but evidently not. Fresh from his divisive take on The Clown Prince of Crime in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, Alcon has announced (via Variety) that Jared Leto has singed on to join Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling in Denis Villeneuve's sequel to Blade Runner. As per usual, no specific details on who he'll play were provided, but we do know that it'll be a "key role" as a “memorable, never before seen character.” My money's on a replicant. With an impressive supporting cast that includes Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, Lennie James, and Dave Bautista, Blade Runner 2 is set to hit theaters on October 6, 2017. »

Eye in the Sky Blu-ray Review: “Important, reflective and compelling”

14 August 2016 5:25 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

“The cost of war…” comments Alan Rickman‘s high-ranked character in response to a reflective and hugely important moment in Eye in the Sky but it’s not one of dismissal to a throwaway act, it’s that of honesty, regret and the seemingly modern necessity of humanity fighting against each other in a world of continual unknowns.

It’s difficult to rate Eye in the Sky on a separate, fictional level because much like the topical and intensely realistic Homeland it feels all so very relevant to today’s society. Although personally I don’t sit in fear every day of possible terrorism, it would be foolish to disregard the dirt in any part of the history we find ourselves in right now. That being said, Gavin Hood‘s direction gets right into the reality of the choices different people make even if they’re politicians or soldiers, they »

Eye in the Sky; Louder Than Bombs; Men & Chicken; The Huntsman: Winter’s War and others – review

14 August 2016 12:00 AM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Helen Mirren is formidable in a smart tale of modern warfare, but Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt are the only good thing about a flaccid fantasy sequel

Last year, Ethan Hawke and director Andrew Niccol thoughtfully took on drone warfare in Good Kill and audiences shrugged. Similar in scope and sentiment, Gavid Hood’s Eye in the Sky (eOne, 15) was a grown-up hit this spring. It’s not appreciably a better film, but call it the Helen Mirren effect: her brisk gravitas is a brand in itself and she’s on familiarly formidable form here as a British colonel commanding a missile attack on a Nairobi terrorist safehouse. Mirren’s character is merely one cog, however, in the heaving, not wholly effective international machine of modern remote warfare. From the American drone pilot (Aaron Paul) in Nevada to the Kenyan field agent (Barkhad Abdi) on the scene to a distracted »
