Sampo Silvennoinen
- Writer
- Visual Effects
- Producer
Born in July 30th, 1989, in Helsinki, Finland, Sampo Silvennoinen is an
amateur filmmaker with credits ranging from directing to visual
effects. Similarly to Robert Rodriguez, his films often utilize the
"one-man film crew" style with him not only writing and directing, but
also editing, producing, acting and creating the visual effects for the
film.
Sampo Silvennoinen first took interest in filmmaking at the age of 14, as he attempted to create lightsaber battle in style of Star Wars films. Though the initial attempt failed, it lead to hobby of creating action scenes and short films with creative tricks to make up for the lack of budget. Due to lack of different actors for mass scenes, trick shots with same actor appearing on the screen multiple times with "cloning" effect became his trademark.
After his initial short films created as a teenager, his filmmaking took more serious direction when creating the Redemption Trilogy in 2010-2011. His new style was much influenced by spaghetti westerns and film noir, often depicting things as redemption, retribution and absolution as common themes in his films.
