Hailing from Queens, New York, she is a self-described creative genius, citing versatility as the main component in perfecting her craft and giving thanks to God. Upon graduating, Khalimah New York City and attended The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts (NYCDA). - Khalimah Gaston is a creative genius who is obsessed with where craft meets art and God. She acts, directs, produces, and writes. She has always been a dynamic creator from childhood. She could be found drawing, sketching, sculpting, making her own clothing or doing hair or even performing dance routines at family events and public events alike but also starting her own businesses. Now due to that as her foundational journey she is a renaissance woman.
As a full time artist, she can be found conjuring up ideas and tangibly manifesting them into pieces. She followed her heart to acting when she realized her many talents would be not just useful but utilized. She loves empowering and inspiring. She is currently writing and creating content that showcases and galvanizes Black women and women of color through sci-fi and action in film and tv.
She continues to produce and create space for stories about the Black experience that haven't been told or that needs to be told in new ways.
As a passionate African American, Jamaican, Chinese and Native American, Leo woman who is blazing a trail in this industry for herself and others while using her different platforms to bring a more vast representation of the community that looks like her.
She's hosted film festival panels and her own premier networking platform(s) that highlighted and showcased visual content; Screening Room Atl & LA. She also did a monthly limited event for a year "A Seat at the Table " sponsored by the Atlanta Mayors Office of Entertainment.
Now to her first (action) short film she wrote, starred in, and produced 'DO:XYZ', she made sure to do what Ava said; "execute dynamically." Now she is creating the mini series based on that short film that was highlighted at the Utah Film Center Black Filmmakers showcase in June 2020, along with being selected for the San Diego Black Film Festival, Chelsea film festival, and the Oscar award qualifying Bronze Lens Film festival.
She is always creating and can't wait to birth art with the greats that have paved the way for her including but not limited to; Ava Duvernay, Oprah, Issa Rae, Lena Waithe, Shaka King, Antoine Fuqua, Spike Lee, and Kasi Lemmons.
