23 July 2016 8:08 AM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Last week, we reported that production has wrapped on Star Wars: Episode VIII, but it seems that was a bit premature. Though actors Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill had filmed their last scenes and the movie actually held its wrap party, obviously there was still a bit left to shoot. Well, now director Rian Johnson has announced (via the Star Wars Twitter page) that he has officially filmed the last scene of the movie, and shared a brief video of the "final slate of the final shot". Final slate of the final shot. VIII is officially wrapped. Cannot wait to share it with you all! -@rianjohnson pic.twitter.com/l4Apk0Ro4i— Star Wars (@starwars) July 22, 2016 The still untitled Episode VIII is not out until late next year, but fans will get to return to the galaxy far, far away soon enough when Rogue One hits in December. »

He shared several new photos, and we also have video from his panel along with an exciting interview he did afterwards.

Rian Johnson participated in the Future Filmmakers Panel, where Alden Ehrenreich was introduced for the first time as the newer, younger Han Solo. London — Directors Rian Johnson, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, accompanied by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, discussed the future of the “Star Wars” franchise at Star Wars Celebration Europe at the ExCel Centre. Alden Ehrenreich was also officially introduced as young Han Solo for the upcoming standalone movie.

“This is going to start right where the last one left off,” “Episode VIII” director Johnson said. “It was a break from tradition.”

He added, “The second film is where we zoom into the characters, getting to the heart of them and challenging them.”

In preparation to direct the highly anticipated sequel, Johnson screened gritty 1949 WWII drama “Twelve O’Clock High” (“It became extremely important”) and Mikhail Kalatozov’s 1959 survival adventure “Letter Never Sent” plus classics like “The Bridge On The River Kwai,” “The Dambusters,” “Sahara” and “Gunga Din.”

‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Director Rian Johnson Explains How He’s Put Aside Nostalgia To Make His Film

Star Wars: Carrie Fisher on Being Princess Leia, ‘Episode VIII’

17 July 2016 4:49 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

London — Carrie Fisher took to the stage at Star Wars Celebration Europe at the ExCel Centre in London with advice for her newly minted “Star Wars” cast members.

“I told Daisy not to go through the crew like wildfire,” she said. “I told the boys too. I also gave the cast advice on doing press: ‘You don’t have to be funny, you just have to say what it is like to be merchandise.’ That’s not a euphemism.”

“The Force Awakens” saw Princess Leia become General Leia as she led the Resistance against the evil First Order. By the end of the movie, she sends Rey (Daisy Ridley) to bring back the prodigal Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), teeing up ‘Episode VIII.”

“The character was more worried,” she says. “You worry about people coming back from battle. It’s way too much responsibility. I would like to be worried and funny. »

Mark Hamill Reveals Luke’s Introduction In Star Wars: The Force Awakens Could Have Been Very Different

15 July 2016 8:03 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Luke Skywalker has vanished. As far as opening crawls go, few are as dramatic and immediate as Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Teeing up the events to come in brilliant fashion, that ambiguous tease had fans on tenterhooks for much of the movie, and it was only during the final scene that Mark Hamill’s wayward Jedi Master appeared on screen. Had J.J. Abrams and Co. taken the actor’s initial thoughts on board, though, Luke Skywalker could have been introduced long before Rey made a beeline for Ahch-To, home to the first Jedi Temple.

More News From The Web

As Hamill revealed during a panel at the ongoing Star Wars Celebration Europe, he initially hoped Luke would have leaped into action on Starkiller Base, catching the lightsaber mid-flight as it flies from the snow.

It was a scene that already made a nod to Luke’s encounter with the Wampa in Empire Strikes Back, »

Star Wars: Mark Hamill on Being Luke Skywalker, ‘Episode VIII’

15 July 2016 5:32 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

London — Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, kicked off proceedings at Star Wars Celebration Europe at London’s ExCel Centre on Friday with an admission.

“People say, “Give us a detail about ‘Episode VIII,’ ” he told the packed crowd. “I know you’ll love the irony that I am contractually forbidden to do so.”

When we last saw Luke Skywalker at the end of “The Force Awakens,” he was hiding out in a Jedi Temple on the aquatic planet Ahch-To. Rey (Daisy Ridley) tracks him down and hands him his lightsaber. Then, the movie ends — Hamill doesn’t utter a single word of dialogue in the film. Director J.J. Abrams called the moment “this great long drum roll up to seeing this guy,” but Hamill revealed he was initially skeptical.

“I was nervous,” he continued. “Say I turned and people groaned? But I want to do all movies like that — 30 seconds work and second billing. »
