Today's entry in our ongoing series on the spookier side of urban exploration is something of a special case, as this location comes with its own very well-known haunted backstory – one which became the stuff of nightmares for kids and adults alike. The 300-acre Farm Colony on Staten Island is one of the largest abandoned locations in New York, and has multiple layers of creepy history, each more disturbing than the next. A recent photo tour of the site, covered in the blog Atlas Obscura, revealed that the body of an unknown girl was once discovered beneath one of the decrepit colony buildings... and that she might not be the only one.
