Mohammadreza Shafiei is an Iranian producer who started his professional career in the year 2000 by making teasers, music videos, and then short films and documentaries. Examples of his short films include "Cold Tea" and "The Awake Sleepers", and examples of his documentaries include "Smile", "Black Hand, White Bread", "Fireplace", "Remembering the Days". He also started his career in television since 2003 by making the series "The Anthem of Soil" and in addition to being a producer, he has also worked in cinema and television as an idea-tor and designer. So far, he has been nominated for awards for two films, "The Sealed Secret" and "Flaming", and for the series "Kimia", in addition to being nominated for the Hafez Award for the best series, he has received the best producer award from Jame Jam TV Festival, but according to the list of the top 40 TV series in Iran after the revolution, "White Status" is his most popular series.
Although Shafiei makes a movie for the cinema from time to time, he is known as a television producer and one of the most prolific people in this industry. This issue has not escaped the attention of the media and in many cases it has been discussed; some have considered it to be due to his being apple of authorities' eye or the government's monopoly, and others consider it a sign of concern and a different approach in his artistic work. However, there have also been cases of failure or disagreement with television; For example, the "Blood Money" series was suspended for three years before its broadcast or that he complains about the lack of cooperation in the production of the "Sayad Shirazi" series.
In terms of genre, he does not limit himself to a specific genre and there are contemporary history series (White Status, Artery, Kimia, etc.), historical works (Gildokht, Agate, etc.), thrillers (Yellow Tape, Rahai, etc.) and social works that have a family-oriented approach in his work history, but the most frequent genre and his most famous works are social melodramas with a lifestyle approach, such as "Motherly", "Kimia", "Injury", "Distances", "Secret of Lovers", etc.
Shafiei has collaborated with many writers and directors such as Sirous Moghadam, Mohammad Mahdi Asgarpour, Hamid Nematollah, Farzad Motamen, Shahram Shah Hosseini, Behrang Tofighi, Javad Afshar, Hossein Soheilizadeh, Mohammad Hossein Latifi, Pouriya Azarbaijani, Hamed Anqa and Hadi Moghadam Doost. But most of his joint work has been with Saeed Nematollah and in addition to producing 10 of Nematollah's 14 works (The Redeemed, Blood Money, Injury, Mania, Motherly, Agate and Dear Brother), his name is also seen as a producer in his first directorial experience (Warm Ground).
Mohammadreza Shafiei has other media and cultural activities besides film and television production. Since 1992, he founded the Saba media group and is the responsible manager and editor of it. Saba is a specialized media in the field of culture and art. Among his other cultural activities, we can mention the management of Vasfe Saba Cinema and Media School, Vasfe Saba Publications and Vasfe Saba Advertising Center.
