The winners of Tamil Nadu State Government Film Awards between 2009 to 2014 have been announced. Heroines like Nayanthara, Lakshmi Menon and Amala Paul get awards for their respective performances.

Its a postponement for Vijay Sethupathi's film

The motion poster of Vijay Sethupathi's next film Karuppan, directed by R.Panneerselvam of Renigunta fame was supposed to release at 12.00Am tonight (13th July).

But the team has officially announced that due to some technical glitches the motion poster release has been postponed by a few hours. It would release on 13th July as planned, but the new time is yet to be announced.

Also, Sony Music has officially snapped the audio rights of this film, which has music by D. Imman. The film has Lakshmi Menon playing the female lead, while Bobby Simha plays the antagonist.

Hero-heroine hunt is still on for this sequel

Kumki was a well appreciated film by Prabhu Solomon which had a solid debut for Vikram Prabhu and Lakshmi Menon. There are talks that the director would soon be starting the sequel of the film, Kumki 2.

Meanwhile, there are also speculations that Jeevitha-Rajasekar’s daughter Shivani who is keen to make her Kollywood entry, has been signed for Kumki 2.

After his successful Devi(L), Prabhu Deva is once again considering many projects as an actor, one of them being Yung Mung Sung being directed by Ms Arjun. Missed Vijay Sethupathi's but bagged Prabhu Deva's film?

Actress Lakshmi Menon, who was reported to be playing the female lead in Vijay Sethupathi’s Karuppan was later replaced by Balle Vellaiya Thevaa fame, Tanya Ravichandran. Now, our sources say that the Kumki actress will be starring in Prabhu Deva’s next Tamil film after Devi, Yung Mung Sung.

Catherine Tresa was initially reported to be playing the lead in Yung Mung Sung and now it is most likely Lakshmi Menon who will be replacing her. If this comes through, this will be the first time she will be pairing up with Prabhu Deva.

Tanya Ravichandran, grand daughter of yesteryear legend Ravichandran, made her Tamil debut in Balle Vellaiya Thevaa. Breaking: Title of Vijay Sethupathi's next

We had reported yesterday that Lakshmi Menon would be pairing up with Vijay Sethupathi for a new film, to be directed by R.Panneerselvam of ‘Renigunta’ fame.

According to our sources, the film is most likely to be titled as ‘Karuppan’, which will go on floors from this week. Touted to be an action entertainer, this film has music by D. Imman and cinematography by Ramji. Bobby Simha is rumored to play the villain in this flick, which is funded by A.M.Rathnam’s Shri Sai Raam Creations.

Nivedha Thomas to replace Lakshmi Menon?

Nivedha Thomas, who played Vijay's sister in R.T.Neason's Jilla, is expected to feature in the director's next too, which is the Telugu remake of Vedalam.

 

This film will have Pawan Kalyan playing the lead role. We have earlier reported that the cast selection is underway for this film, which is expected to roll from March 2017. Now latest reports suggest that Nivedha Thomas is most likely to reprise Lakshmi Menon's role.

It should be noted that the Papanasam girl made her Telugu debut with the recent Nani starrer Gentleman, which fetched positive reviews for her.

The Apocalypse Hits India in Miruthan [trailer]

This big budget Indian zombie flick has all the dancing and comedy you'd expect, but it also appears to have huge scope and a ton of high flying zombie action!

Called Miruthan, and featuring actor Jayam Ravi in the lead, is the second major zombie film to come from India, 2013's Go Goa Gone being the first of note. That film was about a Russian mobster stuck on a desert island with zombies attacking.

The first trailer does not have subs, but you get the idea.

Indian studio Disney Utv has unveiled its release slate for 2014, which includes Hindi tentpoles such as P.K. starring Aamir Khan and Disney 3D titles Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Maleficent.

Other Disney titles lined up for Indian release this year include Into The Woods, Million Dollar Arm, Planes 2 – Fire & Rescue, Saving Mr Banks and Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Following its success with handling the Indian distribution of non-mainstream Hindi titles such as The Lunchbox, Ship Of Theseus and Shahid in 2013, Disney Utv has also lined up specialist titles such as Haider, Vishal Bharadwaj’s adaptation of Hamlet starring Shahid Kapoor and Tabu, and Nitin Kakkar’s Filmistaan, which played at the Busan and Goteborg film festivals.
