Shoojit Sircar introduces newcomer Banita Sandhu to star opposite Varun Dhawan in October

Ever since the announcement of Shoojit Sircar’s next directorial outing, October starring Varun Dhawan was made, everyone has been guessing who the female lead would be. While many names were rumoured to be a part of the venture, Sircar put the speculations to rest by declaring his new find – Banita Sandhu.

Shoojit is known to have a keen eye for spotting talent and launching them in his films. From Minissha Lamba (Yahaan) to Yami Gautam and Ayushmann Khuranna (Vicky Donor), he has played a mentor to many talented actors.

Banita is from Wales and has done some advertising assignments including the very popular Wrigley’s Doublemint (Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se) Television commercial directed by Shoojit last year.

Shoojit Sircar’s October starring Varun Dhawan to release on 1st June, 2018

We have just learned that Shoojit Sircar’s slice of life love story October starring Varun Dhawan, which will go on floors this September, has a release date on 1st June, 2018.

October, will be a story about love. “It is a genre that I have always wanted to delve in. While love and romance have been entwined with Indian cinema, there is abundance in that emotion that everyone can have their own interpretations of. Juhi and I have always tried to create stories from the reflections of real life moments that we see around us. October is another effort to explore those moments out of simple situations of life,” shared Shoojit.

In an earlier interview Sircar shared, “It’s inspired by many real-life incidents but the basic idea came from a small newspaper clipping that I had read. If you see, all my films’ ideas are like that.”

Taapsee Pannu talks arranged marriages and Running Shaadi

Director Amit Roy’s latest film, Running Shaadi, addresses a light-hearted approach on the subject of arranged marriages.

It tells the story of Ram Bharose (Amit Sadh) and his friend Sarabjeet Sidhaana aka Cyberjeet (Arsh Bajwa), who set up a website to help love struck couples in the city of Amritsar defy their families’ marriage orders and elope together.

Taapsee Pannu, who plays Nimmi, the female lead, says the reason the role appealed to her was because the character is almost similar to her.

Taapsee Pannu said, “I think for Amit Roy, he wanted me to play the role because the character is almost me on screen. The character is so like me, it was almost like I wasn’t even acting.”
