Okay people. Get ready to have a good moan, as some new images and a video have made their way on-line from the reboot of the Paul Verhoeven's eighties classic RoboCop. Check them out here, courtesy of Collider...
Directed by Jose Padilha (Elite Squad), this updated film follows Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) in his transformation from cop to machine. The new shots don't show anything we haven't really seen before, though we get a nice look at RoboCop's new gun. No sign of a holster, so here's hoping it still fits inside his leg. Apart from the angle of these pictures doing him no favours at all (beer belly?), I'm intrigued by Murphy's right hand, which appears to be completely human. A way for a supposedly fearsome cyborg to offer a human touch?
With it's predecessor much loved, RoboCop has a tough job on it's hands, but shall »

Like it or not, but brand new set photos from Jose Padilha‘s upcoming RoboCop remake have arrived! Straight from Vancouver Convention Centre come these new images with Joel Kinnaman aka Alex Murphy (aka part man – part machine) who is obviously more than ready to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. Head inside to take a look & let us know what you think! We will once again remind you that Kinnaman stars as a critically injured cop who (after OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save his life) returns to the street with amazing new abilities, but with issues...

It’s thrilling. Okay so no it isn’t, but people eat this Robocop stuff up, so take a look at the new Alex Murphy riding a bike through the city.
The film has a great cast that includes Joel Kinnaman, Abbie Cornish, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste, and is directed by Jose Padilha. After a bunch of negative fanfare, the film has been pretty quiet for awhile now. It’s heading for a February 7th, 2014 release. »

There was a time last year when we were hearing news on the Robocop reboot front every other day. After the film was pushed back from a Summer 2013 release to February 2014, things went a little quiet. Well now we have a few more set pics, giving us a detailed look at the new costume, as well as some on-set footage of a super fast motorbike. Jose Padilha’s remake is one of those films which is going to be met with criticism until it is released. There is no way of judging the quality of the actual film based on what we’ve seen so far, and all we can tell is that it is going to be different. The cast is what is keeping my attention so far, and I’m hoping for a film that is at least different from its predecessor.

Every single image we see of the new RoboCop suit makes us cringe. We keep telling ourselves, "It will look better in motion. Jose Padilha can make this work!" This latest crop though? Damn. See for yourself.

It's been a while since we've heard anything on Jose Padilha's remake of RoboCop. The film was originally scheduled to open in August, but was pushed back to next February. The last time we saw anything from the movie was in November, but now some new set photos and video have surfaced. These images show off the costume in greater detail, and while there's been some inevitable grumbling, I like the new look. The original outfit is iconic, and this isn't a radical departure, but it has enough of its own flavor to pay homage while still finding away to stand apart. As for the video, fast motorcycles are fast. Hit the jump to check out the set photos and video. The film stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel and Jackie Earle Haley. RoboCop opens February 7th, 2014. Via Cbm and Daily Mail. »

So how good is it to be Oscar Isaac right now? Thus far, he's worked with directors Nicolas Winding Refn, Ridley Scott, Zack Snyder, Steven Soderbergh and of course, the Coen Brothers on their upcoming "Inside Llewyn Davis." And with that film set to light up Cannes next week and likely to send Isaac into orbit, he's putting his name to a biopic about someone Hollywood has been trying to make a movie about for years. Isaac will lead "The Lincoln Lawyer" director Brad Furman's untitled Pablo Escobar biopic. First announced two years ago, and ambitiously described as a mix between "The Godfather" and a war movie, the film has a Black List-approved script by Matt Aldrich, who penned "Father Daughter Time: A Tale of Armed Robbery and Eskimo Kisses," that's set up as a directing vehicle for Matt Damon. But this movie has some competition. Netflix is already »

Paul Verhoeven, the director of the original Total Recall, has stated in a recent interview that he enjoyed watching Len Wiseman’s 2012 remake fail when it was released last year to poor reviews and an underwhelming $198 million box office haul.
Just for the record, Verhoeven’s version took in $261 million when it was released back in 1990 and is considered by most to be an action/sci-fi classic. Although, I suppose it depends on how you define the word “classic.” Personally, I’m a big fan of the original and if you can enjoy it for what it is, then you’ll be in for a treat.
Anyways, back to Verhoeven’s comments, here’s what he had to say:
“That was fun,” he said, “[Because] they had been arrogant in interviews. Both the producer and Colin Farrell had been bashing the old one. [Farrell] called it kitsch.”
Sure, I mean, the Total Recall »

From “Starship Troopers” to “Showgirls,” director Paul Verhoeven has always enjoyed mystifying audiences with his satirical intentions, but with his newest film “Tricked” (which screened recently at Tribeca), he let the viewers contribute to the end result. Featuring a crowd-sourced script from over 600 submissions worldwide, it shows Verhoeven at his most collaborative, and as such, he's spoken up about the broken creative process in Hollywood today. Verhoeven is right in the middle of seeing repeats of his own work: Jose Padilha is set to release a long-gestating “RoboCop” remake in 2014 with star Joel Kinnaman, and last summer the Colin Farrell-led “Total Recall” remake wandered into theatres with middling critical and financial returns. Verhoeven's original took in $261 million worldwide, while Len Wiseman's reboot garnered only $198 -- an underwhelming result that Verhoeven took with a grin. "That was »

The director of the Robocop remake, Jose Padilha, is setting up his next film project at Warner Bros., a crime thriller called The Brotherhood. The film will be an adaptation of the book The Brotherhoods: The True Story of Two Cops Who Murdered for the Mafia, which was written by Guy Lawson and William Oldham.
The story "centers on two corrupt detectives, one working surreptitiously for the Luchese crime family, the other for the Gambino family. For years the men threw cases, scrapped evidence and even killed. Oldham is the third point in the story, a detective who spent more than seven years tracking the men, eventually bringing them to justice in a sensational trial."
This could be an incredible project for the Brazilian filmmaker, who got his big break making the gritty crime films Elite Squad and Elite Squad 2. Here's a more detailed description of the story from the »

Jose Padilha ("Elite Squad," "Robocop") is reportedly interested in adapting the crime thriller "The Brotherhood" at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Guy Lawson and William Oldham penned the original 2006 non-fiction work about two notorious rogue cops charged with murdering for the mob (one for the Luchese crime family, the other for the Gambino family), and the detective who tracked them over seven years.
Bill Dubuque adapted the screenplay and Dan Lin is attached to produce. Padilha's "Robocop" remake is still in production ahead of a release next year.

Isn.t it great whenever a director gets attached to a project, and the two seem tailor-made for one another? Martin Scorsese and The Departed, for instance, or Jose Padilha and the awkwardly titled book that sounds pretty similar to The Departed, The Brotherhoods: The True Story of Two Cops Who Murdered for the Mafia. Warner Bros. is currently in talks to make one of those serendipitous match-ups by signing José Padilha to direct The Brotherhoods, Variety reports. Padilha.s next effort, MGM.s highly anticipated Robocop remake, is still in its effects-driven post-production stage on the way to a February 7, 2014 release date. And while the quality of that project is still in question, Padilha.s excellence behind the camera is clear based on 2007.s Elite Squad, which is one of the grittiest action flicks out there, and its 2010 sequel Elite Squad: The Enemy Within, a more mature film than »

Director Jose Padilha is heading back into the crime thriller world. The filmmaker first broke onto the scene with his Brazilian crime pics Elite Squad and Elite Squad: The Enemy Within before landing the directing gig on MGM’s RoboCop remake, and now Heat Vision reports that he is next set to direct the true crime thriller The Brotherhood for Warner Bros. The pic is an adaptation of Guy Lawson and William Oldham’s book The Brotherhoods: The True Story of Two Cops Who Murdered for the Mafia and centers on two corrupt detectives who secretly worked for two crime families for years while throwing cases, scrapping evidence, and even killing for the mob. Oldham—another detective—eventually brought the two to justice after tracking them for nearly a decade. The story most definitely has a Departed feel to it, and should make for a rather intriguing crime drama. Dan Lin »

Early word was that Jose Padilha, the Brazilian filmmaker whose unbelievably intense "Elite Squad" films had cinema-goers chewing off their fingernails the world over, had kind of a rough time on his big budget remake of "RoboCop" for MGM. Of course reports varied, but it seems the experience on that $100 million film wasn't too painfully awful, since he has signed on for another American project, and this time it's a true crime story called "The Brotherhood" for Warner Bros. The project is based on the book "The Brotherhoods: The True Story of Two Cops Who Murdered for the Mafia," a nonfiction saga written by Guy Lawson and William Oldham. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the book concerns two very corrupt cops, each working for a different crime syndicate, who would sabotage cases, steal or destroy evidence, and even murder for their respective gangster overlords. Bill Dubuque, who also had a »
