This Christmas, one little girl will be showing some bigwigs in New York that you can't push your way to the top unless you show maybe a little kindness.
William Stacks is a determined, hard-working man whose goal is to become mayor of New York. Although a bit one-track minded, Stacks does have some goodness in his heart, and it shows after he rescues a little orphan girl named Annie.
Annie could very well be the sweetest girl in the world. After news of her rescue becomes public, Mr. Stacks wants to do everything he can to be seen with the little girl. But is it just to help boost his campaign, or is Annie taking effect on Ben Stacks, and becoming something more of a daughter to him?

Academy Award® nominee Quvenzhané Wallis stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything’s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) – advised by his brilliant VP, »

There are two types of people: those who grew up loving the musical Annie, and those who would prefer to go into the woods with Jason Voorhees rather than listen to one single syllable of her signature tune “Tomorrow.” I am of the second type. So when the powers that be (that’s Will Smith and Jay Z) opted to launch a re-imagining of the musical as a more modern-day fairytale starring Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) and Jamie Foxx in the lead roles, I was not exactly bowled over with excitement.
I wish I could say that the most recent trailer for Annie has melted my ice-cold heart, but really it has just seriously damaged my eardrums. As a rather high-pitched hip-hop rendition of “It’s a Hard Knock Life” plays in the background, we are introduced to orphan Annie and her politically-minded benefactor Benjamin Stacks (Foxx). After saving Annie’s life, »

Jamie Foxx got to play a supervillain in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 earlier this year, but in this winter’s Annie, he’ll be more like a superhero. Batman, to be specific. Or so his character claims in the new Annie trailer. Meanwhile, he also seems to think taking in Annie (Quvenzhané Wallis) will be kind of […]

Previous trailers and promos have naturally focused on the title character of the new Annie, played by Quvenzhané Wallis. While she’s still all over this new promo, there’s a little more focus on William Stacks, the billionaire businessman and wannabe politician embodied by Jamie Foxx. Check out the latest trailer. The story, course, remains largely the same as the original film / musical / comic strip, just with a modern coat of paint and a few tweaks here and there. Annie is living the hard knock life in foster care with the spiteful, thoughtless Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz, having some fun with an all-scenery diet). But when Annie accidentally meets Stacks, her world seems to be changing for the better. Convinced that being seen around the girl will help his poll numbers, Stacks lets her stay in his massive penthouse apartment. But it’s Annie who really has an effect »
Quvenzhané Wallis turns up the charm in a new trailer for the movie version of the hit Broadway musical “Annie.” Her performance should melt the hard hearts of critics who questioned why an African American child was picked for the lead role. In fact the two main roles went to minorities. Jamie Foxx plays an updated version of Daddy Warbucks. Cameron Diaz, Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale also make appearances in the clip. ...Read More »
In theaters December 19th, here’s the brand new trailer for Annie.
Academy Award nominee Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz).
But everything’s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) – advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) – makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he’s her guardian angel, but Annie’s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean »

Now that we've all gotten to digest the first trailer for Annie that came out a couple of months ago, I think we've all warmed to the cast of the remake, which includes 2013 Oscar nominee and breakout star Quvenzhané Wallis as the title orphan, Cameron Diaz as Miss Hannigan, and Jamie Foxx as Benjamin Stacks, aka Daddy Warbucks. So by now you may be a bit more excited for the second trailer, which prominently features the iconic song "It's a Hard Knock Life." If that doesn't charm you, the footage might, since it focuses on Annie meeting Grace (Rose Byrne) and politician Stacks, who wants to exploit his relationship with the young orphan to benefit his career. Obviously, his heart melts in the process, and so will yours, probably. Annie comes out on Christmas Day, so watch the new trailer now. Watch the original trailer here. Front Page Image Source: »

This December, fans of movie musicals will be getting two films that can help fulfill their need for song and dance numbers on the big screen: Disney’s Into the Woods, based on the famous dark fairy tale mashup Broadway musical by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim, and Annie, the new cinematic rendition of the comic strip-turned hit stage musical/film, starring Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx (Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Oscar-nominee Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild).
A newly-released full-length trailer for Annie (see above) is more plot-oriented than its teaser trailer predecessor. This preview focuses on the relationship that forms between the wealthy New York City mayoral candidate Benjamin Stacks (Foxxx) – the renamed version of the Daddy Warbucks character – and plucky orphan Annie (Wallis), when a fortuitous turn of events convinces Stacks make the young girl part of his political bid. Batman references, Cameron Diaz ...

Focusing on an orphan adopted by the wealthy Daddy Warbucks (renamed Benjamin Stacks and a New York mayoral candidate in this updated version of the classical musical), it’s a heartwarming tale and boasts an impressive cast of actors which also includes Rose Byrne and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
This latest trailer features “A Hard Knock Life” and “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile”, along with a few modern day changes to some now very dated lines!
We also get to see a lot more of some of the cast members who weren’t featured that heavily in the original trailer, and while many continue to doubt the necessity of this remake, it does actually look a lot better than expected! »

Sony Pictures has released new Annie trailer. The film stars Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) in the title role as a young, happy, street-tough foster kid living with the mean Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz) who is taken in by New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) in a thinly veiled campaign move. I want to be excited for this movie, it's got a good cast, and I enjoyed director Will Gluck's Easy A, but the trailers are falling flat for me. The jokes aren't landing, and it seems like it's trying too hard to update the classic musical. But with its holiday release date, I'm holding on to the hope that it will be a crowd-pleaser. Hit the jump to check out the new Annie trailer. The film also stars Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and David Zayas. Annie opens on December 19th. Via Yahoo! »

The second trailer for Annie has arrived, and it delves deeper into the life of eccentric billionaire Will Stacks. Hoping to become mayor of New York without a wife, an almost impossible task, he saves a young orphan girl from certain death. This pushes him directly into the spotlight, so he continues his relationship with the girl, named Annie, pulling her away from her hardknock life and giving her a real home. Is this the kick his political career needs? Watch the latest footage from this reimagining of the Broadway musical starring Quvenzhané Wallis, Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz and Rose Byrne.

Jamie Foxx is trying to save his city “like Batman” in a new trailer for “Annie,” starring Quvenzhané Wallis as the orphan who helps him do it. Foxx takes the place of Albert Finney's Daddy Warbucks as business tycoon and mayoral candidate Benjamin Stacks, who rescues the mischievous little orphan from a collision with a car, and welcomes her into his life for the sake of poll numbers. Bobby Cannavale, Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje, Dorian Missick and Tracie Thoms round out the starring cast. The remake of Annie is still quite some time away from hitting theaters just before Christmas, but with Maleficent hitting the big screen this weekend, it's the perfect time to get some more buzz. It looks like as hokey as the first trailer, but there's some new bits with Rose Byrne mocking Jamie Foxx for sounding like Batman. Cameron Diaz is being obnoxious, but not in a way that we're enjoying. This seems like a dud, but maybe fans of the musical will find this contemporary adaptation with Quvenzhané Wallis enjoyable. We still wish there was a much different spin on the music, but maybe there's more in store. Here's the new trailer for Will Gluck's remake of Annie, originally from Yahoo: Annie is directed by Will Gluck (Easy A) who also wrote the screenplay with Alice Brosh McKenna (We Bought a Zoo, The Devil Wears Prada) and Emma Thompson. »

Why remake childhood favorite "Annie"? Well, because they can and that's just what Sony has done, entrusting the job to "Easy A" director Will Gluck, screenwriters Aline Brosh McKenna and Emma Thompson, and producers Will Smith and Jay Z. So yes, they brought the talent and the result is...this? A new trailer for the musical revamp is here and it still looks pretty tone deaf. "Beasts Of The Southern Wild" star Quvenzhané Wallis takes the title role, with Jamie Foxx as her wealthy benefactor with political dreams to keep alive. Meanwhile, vamping all over the place is Cameron Diaz as Miss Hannigan, with a performance pitched, for better or worse, all the way to the back row. Certainly, this isn't for us, but maybe the kids will dig it? "Annie" arrives on December 19th. »
