Kavinda Dissanayake
Kavinda Neranja Dissanayake was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Kavinda has
had a hectic life, moving from place to place. He has lived in Sri
Lankan, Thailand, Botswana, USA, and is currently settled in the UK.
Kavinda has been brought up by in a well mannered Buddhist household.
At the age of 7, Kavinda began studying martial arts at Martino's
Karate School and he, along with his family, quickly noticed his unique
and natural talent for the sport. He was soon invited to train with
seven-time world karate champion Michael Chaturantabut and, at the age
of nine, he was asked to represent his country in the twelve years and
under division in the World Karate Association where he became the
Junior World Forms and Weapons champion, winning two gold medals.
However, in addition to his love for martial arts, Kavinda quickly developed a love for acting at the age of eight years old when his martial arts instructor, who was involved in show business, encouraged him to audition for a small appearance in a Build a Bear Workshop commercial. He was successful with his audition,and he enjoyed the experience so much that he told his parents that he wanted to pursue a potential career in acting. When Kavinda was ten, with the frequent traveling and air fares starting to become overwhelming, his family made the crucial decision to relocate to Los Angeles where Kavinda would have the advantage of being able to audition for films, television, and commercials full-time.
Once Kavinda moved with his family to Los Angeles, he found himself landing more and more small acting roles. He booked many occurring roles on various television shows such as "My Wife and Kids" (2001), "Summerland" (2004). He started to get roles in longer films. He was cast in the "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" (2003) and "Beethoven 5th" (2003). He took a small break to concentrate on his education. After moving to the UK he had an unsuccessful audition at the auditions for "Slumdog Millionaire" (2008). Kavinda has become very close to to he cast of Twilight and has starred in "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1" (2011)as an unsavory person and part 2 as the invisible man. He finished wrapping up "Snow White Mirror Mirror" starring as one of the seven dwarfs alongside Lilly Collins in September 2011.
