The X Factor: 10 things we learned from the final press conference

11 December 2014 12:26 PM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

The X Factor final kicks off this weekend, so you would think that the acts and judges would be rushed off their feet - and you would be right. But they still found time to squeeze in a little press conference at Wembley Arena today - minus unwell Mel - and we were lucky enough to pop along.

So, below, we bring you 10 things you need to know before this weekend's final. Why is Andrea so pleased he can use a washing machine? What do One Direction have planned? And what pants will Simon be wearing? Read on for all of the gossip...

X Factor: Simon Cowell hits out at Jake Quickenden for jungle jaunt

1. Yes, Simon is very smug about having two acts in the final.

Who'da thought it, eh? Cheryl and Louis have no acts left, while Simon is sitting pretty with Ben and Fleur. "Let's just »

The X Factor: Our dream duets and winner's singles for the Top 3

11 December 2014 1:00 AM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

We can't quite believe the X Factor final is this weekend - we're not sure we're ready to say goodbye to Simon Cowell yet - but before we get to crowning a winner, there is some very important business to attend to. Like, say, who Andrea, Ben and Fleur will be duetting with. And what their winner's singles will be. We need to know.

Well, we'll probably find out very soon but until then we'd like to wildly speculate. So below, we lay out our choices for the top three - both the silly and the serious.

Andrea Faustini

Dream Duet

Silly: Spice Girls. Just imagine. We know Andrea is a huge fan, and we also really want to see Mel B and Geri get on the same stage again. Frankly if Andrea's not belting out the chorus to 'Viva Forever' on Saturday night he doesn't deserve to win. »

The X Factor: What was the best ever winner's single? The rankings

9 December 2014 4:00 AM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

We're down to our final three on The X Factor - Andrea, Ben, and Fleur, in case you've somehow missed the news - and the final is just days away. Days. But of course the one thing we all want to know is what the winner's single will be - is it going to be a surprise triumph or a horrific failure?

All this speculation got us looking back at the X Factor winner's singles of the past - the good, the bad, the terrible. And, of course, we just had to rank them, didn't we? Read on for our view of how they all stack up...

10. 'Hallelujah' - Alexandra Burke

One thing we discovered when we began this ranking is that the quality of the winner's single is no reflection of the quality of the artist. Take this monstrosity. Alexandra is obviously hugely talented and could have had an amazing first record. »

The X Factor: Who will shine in Jukebox Week? - As it happened

It's getting serious on The X Factor now, and how do we know? Because each act will be performing two songs this week... no biggie! There are just five hopefuls left – Stereo Kicks, Lauren Platt, Andrea Faustini, Ben Haenow and Fleur East – but who's going to shine?

One thing they've had no control over this week is song choice. The public picked one of their tracks, and special celeb guests chose the other. That means anything could happen, so join us from the start of the show at 8pm, as we bring you all the action...

21:46Bye.

21:46But right, that's your lot - make sure you keep commenting below and letting us know what you thought. We'll see you back here tomorrow for the results! Now we're off to watch I'm a Celebrity (mainly so we can investigate this Quickenden situation...)

The X Factor: See Tulisa return to help out Stereo Kicks

28 November 2014 10:40 AM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

Tulisa Contostavlos returned to The X Factor this week to help the last band standing, Stereo Kicks.

As part of this week's Jukebox theme, the former judge was given the responsibility of choosing one of Stereo Kicks' songs for the weekend and picked the Bruno Mars track 'Just the Way You Are'.

However, it seems Contostavlos took her role very seriously, as she was photographed helping out the eight-piece boyband at a London recording studio on Wednesday.

Of course, Contostavlos already knows the boys as she helped their mentor Louis Walsh at Judges' Houses in Bermuda.

And Stereo Kicks should probably listen to her advice, as she mentored Little Mix - the only group ever to win The X Factor.

"I'm proud to be part of the X Factor family and I'm very excited to be involved this year," Contostavlos has said. "I was more than happy »

The X Factor: Mel B is Really getting into rehearsals with Andrea

28 November 2014 10:31 AM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

The X Factor judge Mel B has really been throwing herself into rehearsals with Andrea Faustini.

The former Spice Girl was busting some serious moves at the X Factor studio in Wembley today as Faustini took part in his sound check for tomorrow night's live show.

And Faustini will need all the help he can get after finding himself in the bottom two in a shock result last weekend.

Meanwhile, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini looked worried as she mentored her final act Lauren Platt, who has been sick with a bad cold this week.

Platt tweeted earlier today that it was "not looking good", but an X Factor source told Digital Spy that she is expected to perform tomorrow.

Fernandez-Versini appeared to be giving Platt some words of encouragement during the sound check - perhaps advising a tough mental attitude.

Each act will be performing two songs this week - one chosen by the public, »

It might be a relatively new institution, but Halloween Week on The X Factor is always guaranteed to bring us brilliant performances - and some nightmare-inducing ones, too. It was, after all, Halloween Week which brought us Gary Barlow's infamous "fag ash breath" comment.

With our current batch of contestants hurriedly preparing their scariest songs, and once we got over the disappointment of discovering Jedward's 'Ghostbusters' was actually in Movie Week, we picked out 12 memorable Halloween Week performances from years gone by in no particular order...

1. Cher Lloyd - 'Stay'

This is how you shake it off! Cher was getting all sorts of criticism for being fond of an old rap or two, so she came out on Halloween Week to prove she could sing with a performance of the belter 'Stay' by Shakespears Sister. The vocals were slightly shaky at times but that didn't really matter because »

X Factor's Top 6 Groups revealed: Who should make the Live Shows?

28 September 2014 1:01 PM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

Well, it was something of a tortuous process, to put it mildly, but Louis Walsh has finally managed to name his Top 6 Groups on The X Factor.
