Supernatural Spinoff Takes New Name and Melissa Roxburgh

14 March 2014 12:20 PM, PDT | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

Now that Supernatural’s planted spinoff is getting some steam, the powers that be have realised that Supernatural: Tribes wasn’t such a great name and have come up with something that more accurately describes what the series will be about. Supernatural: Bloodlines is the new title and I was instantly in love with it. What makes it so much better? Considering this spinoff is supposed to be about the various mafia-esque monster families running the underbelly of Chicago, Tribes just didn’t fit quite right. But Bloodlines? Now that’s a name that sounds like crime families pitted against each other.

On top of the name change, THR reported Melissa Roxburgh was cast in the spinoff. She’ll be playing Violet, a member of Chicago’s werewolf pack. She hides her true nature due to her forbidden love for family rival David (Nathaniel Buzolic), but when she’s »

All the Latest on Supernatural Backdoor Pilot Supernatural: Bloodlines

12 March 2014 3:30 PM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

Now here’s some pilot news that I’m completely comfortable reporting, because we Know we’ll see at least the pilot, even if it isn’t picked up to series. We’ve reported periodically about what the TV industry refers to as “backdoor pilots”; they appear as an episode of an existing series, and if they do well, they’re picked up as a spinoff series. Most recently we’ve seen that with The Originals, which was introduced as an episode of The Vampire Diaries.

The CW, who shows more of Our Kind of Shows than any other network, is becoming rather expert at the spinoff/backdoor pilot game, as they are planning another to air next month. Entitled Supernatural: Bloodlines (until recently it was going to be Supernatural: Tribes), it will air as the April 29th episode of Supernatural.

It is described as a “sweeping drama »

Supernatural Spinoff Gets A New Name, Casts Melissa Roxburgh In Lead Role

10 March 2014 11:30 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

It’s only been a few weeks since The CW announced that its long-running hit drama, Supernatural, was getting the spinoff treatment and they’ve already renamed this possible addition to the fall line-up. Instead of Supernatural: Tribes, the pilot contender will now be titled Supernatural: Bloodlines - and we think it has a much more fitting ring to it.

Bloodlines will follow the drama of Chicago’s supernatural underbelly being run by various mobster-esque families, all while humans remain oblivious to this parallel world. The twist comes in the form of an ambitious new hunter set on ridding the city of their presence once and for all after losing his fiance in the crossfire of the monster warfare. The planted episode is set to air during the regularly scheduled Supernatural episode on April 29th.

As pre-production continues on the backdoor pilot, the network has cast Arrow actress, »

The CW Renames its Supernatural Spinoff and Casts Melissa Roxburgh as a Regular

The CW has renamed its "Supernatural" spinoff as "Supernatural: Bloodlines" and found the perfect actress to fill the last remaining vacancy on the show's regulars roster in Melissa Roxburgh, who previously appeared in the "Supernatural" Season 7 episode "Time After Time."

Per The Wrap, Roxburgh will play Violet, a member of Chicago's powerful werewolf pack. She hides her true nature because of her forbidden love for family rival David (Nathaniel Bozulic), a shapeshifter. But when cornered, Violet's inner wolf breaks out.

Fans of The CW's "Arrow" should also recognize Roxburgh from her recurring guest role of Blake; she additionally starred in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid film franchise.
