Clara Canning
Clara was born to Hungarian parents in Dilles Bottom Ohio in Michigan in the late 1920's for her father to work at the Ford Motor Company.
Clara worked at the B-24 Liberator Bomber Plant at Willow Run during World War II. She was a Rosie the Riveter during the war. She went on to work at the Ford Motor Company until retiring in the late 1970's.
Clara met her future husband while working at the Ford Motor Company Glass Plant at the Rouge Plant.
Mother of two children, Francis C. Canning in 1957 and Mary Terez Canning in 1960.
Clara was proud of her Rosie the Riveter efforts, as a result, the producers of the History Channel's EMpires of Industry interviewed her for their documentary.
Clara was called to the United States Post Office's Rosie the Riveter stamp unveiling in 1999. Clara gave the stamp unveiling speech in the presence of four of her WWII Willow Run fellow Rosies.
Clara passed in January of 2003 of natural causes at the age of 80 years.
