Spoiler Alert: Do not read on unless you have seen the Season 1 finale of History's "Vikings," titled "All Change."
The season finale of "Vikings" saw Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) embark on a quest to negotiate peace in a land dispute between King Horik (Donal Logue) and Jarl Borg (Thorbjørn Harr), leaving wife Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) in Kattegat where a sudden and deadly plague claimed many lives -- including their daughter's. On his trip to Gotaland, we saw Ragnar tempted by the mysterious Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland), and the chemistry between them now threatens to undo Ragnar's family completely.
The Huffington Post spoke to "Vikings" creator Michael Hirst about the surprising events of "All Change" and where our characters might go from here, since "Vikings" has already been renewed for Season 2. Tread lightly, there are potential spoilers for future seasons ahead.

The Season Finale of History Channel’s Vikings is here and BuzzFocus was on call with creator and showrunner, Michael Hirst, who also created The Tudors and Camelot, and was an executive producer on The Borgias. He shared with us his thoughts on last week’s episode, “Sacrifice,” tonight’s finale, and Season 2.
Last week’s pivotal episode, “Sacrifice” saw Ragnar and his crew visit Gamla Uppsala to pay sacrifice to the gods. Hirst was asked where the relationship of our main characters goes after Ragnar tried to have Athelstan sacrificed:
Michael Hirst: Strangely enough there isn’t an immediate fallout from that because one of the things Athelstan will come to understand was that Ragnar wasn’t going to sacrifice him because he hated him or he thought he was disposable. He wanted to sacrifice him because he thought he was worthy as sacrifice; he liked him. It »

History’s Vikings has traveled in its first season has farther than the sea path between Sweden and England. From Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel) first discovery of lands out west to his defeat of the Earl Haraldson (Gabriel Byrne), last week’s defeat of King Aelle (Ivan Kaye) didn’t have enough gold to help drown Ragnar’s pain of coming home to find Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) had lost the baby, one he was sure was a son.
In “Sacrifice,” Ragnar takes a group of his finest warriors and Athelstan (George Blagden) to Gamla Uppsala, to ask for forgiveness, to ask the gods to be blessed with more sons. Uppsala is a place where ones feel closer to the gods, where one can have alcohol and shroom-induced hallucinations, and where King Horik (Donal Logue) roams. But to celebrate the gods presence, the festival of sex, music, prayer and spirituality must »

A little after the Vikings panel Saturday morning at WonderCon last weekend, I had the opportunity to join a roundtable discussion with actor George Blagden, who plays Athelstan, the captured English monk who is brought to live as a slave by the Vikings who raid is monastery. Blagden talked a lot about his relationship with Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), the Viking who captured him, and about his new place in the Viking culture. Hit the jump for what he had to say. Vikings airs on the History Channel Sundays at 10pm. Q: Let me start by asking, your character’s kind of our window into these two worlds, but you’re a foreign character as well. There’s a lot that we kind of have to get around, but it’s hard to get inside you. Geroge Blagden: It’s true. Well, speaking to Michael [Hirst] when we first arrived on set, »

There are plenty of people out there who got sucked into the epic fantasy world of Game of Thrones on Blu-ray and DVD who are feeling a little blue with the show’s third season now airing on HBO, a channel not every Thrones fan has. It’s no secret that premium cable packages can be pretty pricy. So until season three hits stores next year, accessing the channel’s currently airing programming legally is pretty difficult.
While you wait, you could beg one of your friends to invite you over for a Thrones marathon or read the excellent books »

As of yesterday, Donal Logue wasn’t certain of his future on Vikings (or, led one to believe same anyway), but today the show has been renewed for a second season. Logue (interview coverage soon), who plays the Viking King, may still be uncertain, I suppose, because who knows where the show is going, but the curiosity of timing was rather interesting.
The trials of Ragnar and clan have proven a solid venture as far as ratings are concerned, and the show not only has established a loyal viewership, but has managed strong ratings from critics.
Four new episodes remain of the first season, though you’d be hard-pressed to tell that from History’s show page, and the next episode is going to be a real high point of the show. Ragnar and the Earl will finally lock horns in the more vikingly sense, and it’s going »

History has renewed "Vikings," the cable channel's first scripted series, for a 10-episode second season.
The historical action drama is currently in the midst of its initial run of 9 episodes and is averaging a strong 5 million total viewers, including 2.2 million adults 25-54 and 1.9 million adults 18-49.
Those numbers, however, have likely been inflated by the channel's smash hit miniseries "The Bible" which finished its run this past Sunday. This week will be the first test of "Vikings" drawing power without "The Bible" as a lead-in, but the renewal demonstrates History's commitment to the series even if the ratings slip for the final four airings.
"'Vikings' is a win win for us," History executive Dirk Hoogstra said in a statement. "As our first scripted series, 'Vikings' has paid off in a big way with critical acclaim, strong ratings and a passionate, loyal fan base. It came out »

History Channel’s Vikings is a historical-based drama about when the vikings began to venture out west for the first time, after continually going east into the Baltic states and Russia and discovered civilizations on what would be the Northumbrian coast of England. Vikings invaded Wondercon, to give a behind-the-scenes look at the show and tease what is coming up for the remainder of its first season.
The main characters of Vikings are Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) a voracious and hungry farmer/warrior, and his wife Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) a shield maiden who stands equal with her lover in bravery and ferocity. Ragnar defies the chieftain and goes west in search of new lands to conquer, he discovers a small monastery on the shores of Northumbria and enslaves one of the priests Athelstan (George Blagden), who becomes our window into both worlds.
