Twilight mastermind Stephenie Meyer has acquired the rights to a budding new Ya franchise. Entitled Anna Dressed in Blood, the supernatural romance has already plucked its leading stars in fresh-faced newcomers Maddie Hasson (I Saw the Light) and Gotham‘s Cameron Monaghan.
Remaining very much in the soppy-meets-supernatural wheelhouse for Meyer, Anna Dressed in Blood spans two relatively successful novels, telling the spooky tale of one Cas Lowood. Inheriting his family’s expertise of the paranormal, Cas’ sole objective is to kill the dead and save the living, but that all changes when he encounters a seemingly vengeful spirit known as Anna.

Chicago – The legacy of country music singer Hank Williams is embraced in every lonesome twang you hear in any song. The actor Tom Hiddleston (“Thor”) transcends his Loki roots to embody the 1950s songster in a way that is otherworldly, working from the script and direction of Marc Abraham.
Hank Williams was a bright wattage bulb that burned like a thousand suns, and was extinguished instantly at the tender age of 29. The influence of his short time within the country music scene, from about 1946 through to his death in 1953, was through the music chart statistic that Williams had an astounding 35 singles reach the country and western Top Ten (five after his death). His signature style and easy-going hit making continues to be heard in the heart of C&W (and all pop) music, and he can easily qualify as one of the Olympus-like gods of that particular brand of musical faith. »

Back in the midst of 2015, it seemed like the Hank Williams biopic I Saw the Light was all set to be a big Academy Award player. Considering how small this week’s platform release of the film is, as well as its middling festival circuit reception, that seems less than likely, but it is somewhat interesting to take note of. The main point of consideration was going to be Tom Hiddleston as Williams, as well as potentially Elizabeth Olsen as wife Audrey Williams, though now I suspect they’re fringe players at best. I’ll return to their Oscar hopes later on in this article, but I just wanted to cite this film today since it’s one of a ton hoping to be a biopic contender in 2016. The movie is a fairly standard biopic. Of course, the subject is legendary country-western singer Hank Williams and his life that was cut short. »

Hiddleston is a Royal Academy-trained thespian who won the Laurence Olivier Award for his turn in a 2007 stage production of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline. He’s best known to North American audiences as Loki, the eloquent villain of Marvel’s cinematic universe.
Williams, on the other hand, is the twangy Alabama country icon who produced the classics “Hey, Good Lookin’,” “Your Cheatin’ Heart” and “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” in the late 1940s and early 1950s.
How did he transform?
“It actually all started here in Toronto,” recalls Hiddleston during an interview at the Toronto International Film Festival where I Saw the Light had its world premiere. »

The Wrap has the scoop, revealing that news broke mere hours before Bell’s Carnage Park made its bow at Sundance Film Festival. Joining the likes of Melissa Leo, Dianna Agron and Margaret Qualley for Novitiate, which is a term used to describe the process of spiritual training before becoming an active member of a religious institution, it’s understood that Bell will step into the graceful shoes of Sister Margaret.
Set against the 1960s, Maggie Betts’ first foray as a director weaves a story about the personal pressures associated with a life of pure devotion to the Catholic church, the sacrifices it entails, and ultimately how it impacts a woman’s ability to love. One of the main driving forces of the drama, though, is when Qualley »
