He is one of the best, not only as a composer as part of the incredible trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, he has also sung brilliantly, needless to say, on Sel tracks and many other outstanding songs. He has won numerous awards for his music, and now he can add another prestigious award to his name.
Mahadevan was honored with his first Grammy along with the members of the fusion band Shakti with the award for The Best Global Album for This Moment. The group consists of Mahadevan as the vocalist, the esteemed tabla player Zakir Hussain, John McLaughlin, V Selvaganesh (percussionist) and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violinist).
Interestingly, this is the first new studio album by the band Shakti in 45 years. Yes, 45 years!
In his acceptance speech, Mahadevan said, “We miss you, John ji.

Neha Dhupia (“A Thursday”) and Adil Hussain (“Life of Pi”) will star in Egyptian director Ali El Arabi’s upcoming drama “Blue 52,” about a young Indian soccer fan’s journey as a migrant worker to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
In El Arabi’s “Blue 52” Ashish endures his father’s isolating control on a remote island home in Kochi, India, but with his mother’s support, and lessons alongside inspiration from his late brother, he breaks free. Ashish embarks on a journey to meet his idol, Messi, at the World Cup in Qatar 22, leading him to face the world for the first time.
Production has now wrapped on “Blue 52,” which was initially meant to be a doc. The project has become a scripted feature, marking the feature film debut of El Arabi, who made a splash at virtual Sundance in 2021 with doc “Captains of Zaatari,” about the soccer dreams of young Syrian refugees.

Birmingham, June 17 (Ians) England’s surprising decision to declare their first innings on 393/8 has brought out a mixed reaction amongst their former players. While Kevin Pietersen didn’t like the adventurous declaration, Nasser Hussain called it a brilliant move.
England stuck to its ultra-attacking and bold approach of playing Test cricket by making a surprise declaration at 393/8 in 78 overs after Joe Root slammed his 30th Test century to be 118 not out on a rousing Ashes opening day at Edgbaston.
Though Pietersen admitted the declaration reflected England’s new approach of playing Test cricket, he was not a fan of the decision citing a flat pitch giving chance to Australia’s batters to score runs in coming days.
“We were talking about the declaration, we were thinking about the declaration, but two or three years ago there would not have even been a hint of a declaration. But with this team,...

Dubai, June 14 (Ians) Former skipper Nasser Hussain has backed England to reclaim the Ashes from Australia as they ride a wave of momentum since Ben Stokes took the reins as captain of the Test team.
England have not won the Ashes since a 3-2 home series victory in 2015, as Australia dominated whenever hosts since then with 4-0 scorelines in both 2017/18 and 2021/22.
Australia also retained the urn when touring England in 2019, as the five-match series was drawn 2-2 after the hosts claimed the last Test at The Oval to level the result.
But England has left opponents amazed in the past year with an exhilarating style of Test cricket, famously referred to as ‘Bazball,’ ever since Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum took charge.
“I can’t see many draws simply because of the way England are playing, they’re trying to take the draw out of the equation,” Hussain told The Icc Review.
