Nich Perez is a Filipino-American filmmaker, professor, and creative collaborator based in Austin, TX, and Los Angeles, CA. He is the founder and director of the Nonprofit Film Collective, a grassroots group of storytellers, collaborating with nonprofits, students, and institutions to tell meaningful stories and bring positive change.
Nich pronounced as Nick, has a knack for telling stories that matter through the lens of empathy and community. So he enjoys creating pixels and film grain through relationships and treating them as sacred, and produces media that transcend through the lens as a whole, rendering beauty, inspiration, and authenticity in an evolving media landscape.
Before doing his academic fellowship in the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California, Nich has been teaching as an Assistant Professor in Film, Media, and Communication Studies in various institutions, including Holy Cross College at Notre Dame, IN, Grinnell College, and St. Mary's University, TX. With 15 years of experience in multimedia storytelling, creative strategy, and education, his work in the development of mission-driven media, institutional, and documentary storytelling intersects with social justice, disability rights, creativity, identity, volunteerism, philosophy, mental wellness, and service-learning through media arts and practice.
He hopes to continue to share this passion for transforming hearts and minds through powerful stories and meaningful projects, unfolding the myth, one pixel at a time.
