Rumour: Halston Sage cast as Dazzler in X-Men: Dark Phoenix

9 hours ago | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It looks like X-Men: Dark Phoenix may have found its Dazzler, with Omega Underground reporting that Halston Sage (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, The Orville) is set to play Alison Blair in the latest instalment of 20th Century Fox’s mutant superhero series.

The site reports that Sage and Suki Waterhouse (The Bad Batch) had both been tipped for the role, but that Sage was spotted in Montreal alongside Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, and Nicholas Hoult at a Hans Zimmer concert. A photo of Sage was also spotted alongside a shot of Jessica Chastain in the background of a photo posted (and since deleted) to Instagram from a member of the film’s stunt team.

News of Dazzler’s appearance in the film was first confirmed back in June, when it was also stated that there were no plans to cast Taylor Swift in the role, despite »

Halston Sage Is Dazzler in X-Men: Dark Phoenix

15 August 2017 11:44 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

After being briefly referenced in an X-Men: Apocalypse deleted scene last year, a casting call for X-Men: Dark Phoenix surfaced in June that seemed to indicate the pop star mutant Dazzler is finally showing up in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. That role has been cast, with The Orville star Halston Sage coming aboard, although there has been no confirmation from the studio. The actress was rumored to be up for the role earlier this month, along with Suki Waterhouse, but if this report is to be believed, Halston Sage has come away with the role.

Omega Underground broke the news on this casting, although there has been some evidence hiding in plain sight, so to speak. Last month, the actress was spotted alongside several X-Men: Dark Phoenix cast members backstage at a Hans Zimmer concert in Montreal, where the film is being shot. Halston Sage was seen alongside Tye Sheridan (Cyclops »

Ready Player One: First Art3mis Image Hints At More Differences From The Novel

11 August 2017 10:45 AM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, we had a chance to check out the first footage of Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film, Ready Player One. The movie is based on the Ernest Cline novel of the same name, and is poised to be a big hit upon its release. Not only is this a big budget, tentpole film based on a hit book, but it’s also something of a pop culture cornucopia. The novel was a love letter to the 1980s, and based on the trailer, it seems like they will be continuing the pop culture references through the 1990s and 2000s — as evidenced by the likes of the Iron Giant and Master Chief.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix adds two new cast members, Toad and Ink may also return

8 August 2017 10:54 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It looks like we may have two new additions to the supporting cast of X-Men: Dark Phoenix, with The Hashtag Show reporting that Kota Eberhardt (The Persian Connection) and Scott Shepherd (The Young Pope) have joined the cast of the mutant superhero sequel.

The site reports that Eberhardt has been cast as Luna, who is described as “intense and exudes a sense of power. Although she is a commanding presence, she is also slightly unhinged.” Shepherd meanwhile is set to play Dr. John Grey, the father of Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey. This follows a recent report that Summer Fontana (The Originals) has been cast as a younger Jean, presumably setting up a flashback sequence.

Meanwhile, it is claimed that Evan Jonigkeit and Gregg Lowe are also in talks to reprise their X-Men: Days of Future Past roles as Toad and Ink, with speculation suggesting they could be part of Magneto’s Acolytes. »

Jessica Chastain confirms X-Men: Dark Phoenix casting

2 August 2017 2:56 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Back in June it was reported that Jessica Chastain had joined the cast of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and now we have official confirmation from the actress herself, who shared an Instagram post with co-star James McAvoy, promising to “make him cry so hard” once she hits the Montreal set of the superhero blockbuster.

Chastain stopped short of confirming her role, although it has been reported that she is set to portray the film’s main villain, the Shi’ar Empress Lilandra, who – in the Dark Phoenix Saga comic book storyline – clashes with the X-Men after she decides that the Phoenix (inhabiting the body of Jean Grey) must be destroyed in order to save the universe.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set for release on November 2nd, 2018. Simon Kinberg is directing a cast that includes franchise veterans Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Professor X), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult »

Sam Shepard’s Quiet Battle with Als: ‘He Didn’t Want to Waste Time Talking About That,' Says Mud Director Jeff Nichols

1 August 2017 2:56 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

The last place Jeff Nichols remembers hanging out with Sam Shepard could have been ripped from the pages of one of the late actor’s short stories: a run-down roadside BBQ joint somewhere in Austin, Texas.

“Sam didn’t like flying,” Nichols, who directed Shepard in 2013’s Mud and 2016’s Midnight Special, told People. “So one time when he was driving through Texas, we met up at this BBQ place in Austin. He wanted to talk to me about his writing because he was working on something new. So here I am sitting in this booth eating some pretty mediocre brisket, »

James McAvoy is not a fan of Professor Xavier’s bald head

31 July 2017 4:59 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Professor Charles Xavier has many defining traits in the X-Men series, but one of the most striking is his completely bald head. Interestingly, we our only just now getting a bald professor Xavier in the First Class films, as we see Professor X shedding his mane at the end of X-Men: Age of Apocalypse, which means that James McAvoy will now have to shave his head whenever a new X-Men film comes around with his name on it. How does the actor feel about it? Well, not great apparently. Speaking to Cinema Blend, McAvoy had this to say:

“I used to like the fact that it afforded me a certain amount of anonymity but it no longer does that. Since I did two movies that everybody saw where I had a bald head, now it’s like a fucking beacon. But what do I like about it? Not a lot at the moment. »

X-Men: Dark Phoenix may have cast its young(er) Jean Grey

30 July 2017 2:05 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It would appear that director Simon Kinberg and the folks over at 20th Century Fox have zeroed in on an actress to portray a young(er) Jean Grey in 2018’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix. According to IMDb (via Screen Rant), Summer Fontana will take on the role that actresses Famke Janssen, Haley Ramm and Sophie Turner all filled before her. While the movie database hasn’t always been a reliable source for movie news, a post from Fontana’s Twitter places her in Montreal, which is where the film is currently shooting, making her involvement with the project highly likely.

The upcoming adaptation of Chris Claremont’s Dark Phoenix Saga, one of the most revered storylines in all of comics, will see Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner reprising her role as the titular telepathic young adult mutant from last year’s X-Men: Apocalypse. Fontana’s casting implies that Dark Phoenix »
