‘Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ Finally Gets Love at Location Managers Awards

Spurned and ignored during the lengthy awards season that ended with the Oscars, Ben Stiller’s “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” (above) finally scored a big win as outstanding location feature at the first annual Location Managers Guild of America awards on Saturday night at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills.

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” took the prize for outstanding location TV program. In addition, “Thrones” location manager Robbie Boake won the trophy for outstanding achievement by a location pro-tv.

“Mitty” shot in Iceland, New York, Los Angeles and Vancouver. “Thrones” shoots in Northern Ireland, Croatia, Morocco, Malta and other locations.

The prize for achievement by a location pro-film went to location manager Ilt Jones for “Iron Man 3,” which filmed in North Carolina, California and Florida.

Staff at the Location Managers Guild Of America (Lmga) have announced the winners of its first Annual Location Managers Guild Of America Awards.

Clip, TV spots and featurette for Game of Thrones season 4

With Game of Thrones gearing up for its fourth season premiere, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, during which she recalled her first audition for the role of the Mother of Dragons, as well as bringing with her a clip from the eagerly-anticipated new season, which sees Dany joined by Daario Naharis (Michiel Huisman), Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) and Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel)....

Today we have two new featurettes for all we Game of Thrones fans. The first is a behind the scenes featurette, Artisan Piece #3, about the Belfast location. The second one is a completely charming history of the series (spoilery if you haven’t seen all three seasons) that is funny and interesting and features fan art.

The other nominees in this categories are scouts for “Iron Man 3″ and “Saving Mr. Banks.” Among TV programs, location managers for “Game of Thrones,” “House of Cards,” “Breaking Bad,” “Behind the Candelabra” and “Scandal” were nominated.

“We are ecstatic with our nominees,” said guild president Nancy Haecker. “They represent the enormous artistic contribution of locations to the vision, message and tone of production. We are equally excited about the eclectic choices in theme and content, as well as representation of location professionals from around the globe,”

The Eva Monley Award, the Humanitarian Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award will be the honorary laurels presented at the ceremony.

Here's a new Game of Thrones season 3 behind-the-scenes video

Following on from yesterday's news that season three of Game of Thrones will see its ten episodes 'super-sized' with extended running times, we now have a brand new behind-the-scenes video from the hotly-anticipated new season, which you can check out below.

The 'making of' video focusses on the series' Art Direction, and features comments from art directors Heather Greenlees and Tom Still and location manager Robert Boake, as well as giving us a glimpse at some of the key scenes and locations from the forthcoming season, which is set to adapt the first half of author George R.R. Despite the weather at times behaving, as Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark) puts it, like a demon, production for Season 2 of Game of Thrones appears to be one heck of a rewarding experience. In the latest production diary for the series, we are taken to Belfast, Northern Ireland, where production was filming at the time this video was shot. We are immediately introduced to a beautiful landscape. Even location manager Robert Boake, who can be assumed to have scene his fair share of vistas, is taken away by Ireland’s rugged beauty. Too bad it rains in buckets.
