'Big Reunion', 'House of Cards', 'Life of Dogs': This week's TV review

Will we need TV channels in ten years time? Even though I watch most of my TV in advance of the schedules and use plenty of catch-up services, I find the idea of TV becoming one giant splodge in the internet-sphere slightly unnerving.

But I'm still recovering from the news that I probably won't be able to buy CDs at HMV in the near future, so maybe I need to get 'down with the kids' and 'move with the times, granddad'.

If Netflix has anything to do with it, the way we watch TV will change. We may have grown up in an age when TV shows are drip-fed to us week-by-week, teasing us with morsels and hooking us in, but in the shiny new Netflix world you can have the whole damn cake in one sitting if you like.

Charlie Sheen on Lance Armstrong: 'Kind of a d*****'

1 February 2013 6:23 AM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Charlie Sheen stopped by "The Tonight Show" this week. Host Jay Leno brought up baseball, because Sheen has a little experience playing from the "Major League" movies, and they talked about steroids and how no one got into the Hall of Fame this year from a group that included a lot of known or suspected steroid users.

This led into a discussion about Lance Armstrong and Sheen pulled no punches in saying what he thinks about Lance.

"Kind of a d*****. Wow, I didn't just say that, did I? That's based on meeting him," says Sheen. "I walked up, I said, 'Hi, I'm Charlie Sheen' and he goes, 'That's nice.' Oh, sorry to bother you, Captain B****in'. Go get a paper route, dude."

"If he was a better guy, I think, in his life, he'd be forgiven a lot faster. Kind of like me," Sheen adds. »

"Chicago Fire" recap (1.13) “I can dance. You can just watch.”

Tags: Chicago FireIMDb

Previously on Chicago Fire, Severide decided to move the Madrid because his neck is broken and the sweetest way to die would be in the arms of Carmen. Dawson gave Mills the food and wine she prepared for Shay’s big U-Haul party. I know there was something else. Oh right, she also gave him Shay’s ticket to her vagina.  Shay came back to work and also wore a football helmet which made some of us swoon.

This week’s episode opens with Severide making good use of his inability to work to do all that touristy stuff you never do in your own city. He takes Renee to Skydeck and charges out into the tiny plastic box on the 103rd floor. The floor is transparent and you can see right down to the ground. Or at least I think you can because I couldn’t bear to look. »

Bradley Cooper And Derek Cianfrance Will Reunite For Chef

30 January 2013 3:23 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

According to Variety, The Weinstein Company is making some moves on their film Chef, a sex comedy written by Steven Knight. The project, which is being produced by Im Global, is now setup at TWC and apparently, Derek Cianfrance is on board to direct with Bradley Cooper set to star. Their report also mentions that actor Omar Sy will co-star in the film, making his English language debut after starring in the highly acclaimed film The Intouchables.

Chef will follow “a disgraced chef who, after losing his Michelin-rated restaurant in Paris, decides to bring his crew back together in an attempt to create the best restaurant ever in London.” The project has been in development for a while now, with David Fincher involved at one point. Back when he was on board, the director described it as “ a celibate sex comedy if that means anything. It’s really about the creative process. »

'Intouchables' Star Omar Sy May Cook Up 'Chef' With Bradley Cooper & Derek Cianfrance

30 January 2013 12:16 PM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

As we learned from the whole Lance Armstrong/J.J. Abrams/Bradley Cooper affair, even direct quotes can be dodgy these days, but this one comes from Cooper himself -- spoken in French no less while doing promo in France -- so we presume no wires have been crossed. And it looks like the actor's teaming up with Derek Cianfrance could get some international flavor. Last fall it was announced that Cooper and Cianfrance were going to tackle the long developing "Chef," a project David Fincher once had his eye on. Penned by "Eastern Promises" writer Steven Knight, the story follows a disgraced chef who, thanks to booze and drugs, loses his Michelin two star rated restaurant in Paris, but brings the gang back together, so to speak, in London to chase an elusive three star rating. So it's like a food driven "Silver Linings Playbook" meets "Ratatouille" and "The Hangover"? Perhaps, »

Bradley Cooper dumped by a model because he 'has a thing for feet'?

30 January 2013 10:15 AM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

What is it with Bradley Cooper and stupid rumors this week?

First, he's starring in a Lance Armstrong movie. (No, he's not.) Then, he's "dating" Taylor Swift. (Not true either.) Now, apparently, he's been dumped by a model who couldn't handle his foot fetish.

That's according to an exclusive (how exciting!) report from In Touch that claims Cooper's "Silver Linings Playbook" co-star (and fellow Oscar nominee) Jennifer Lawrence set him up with a model pal, Laura Simpson.

Cooper and Simpson went on a few dates before, in the words of In Touch's anonymous source, "things got very awkward."

"He was always touching her feet," the source claims, adding Cooper would ask Simpson to text him pictures of her feet. "It was weird, so she broke it off."

Ok then.

If that's the kind of weirdness it takes for an actor to deliver a performance like Cooper's in "Silver Linings," then we're fine with it. »

There’s a lot of buzz right now around Bradley Cooper: the actor earned an Oscar nomination for his work in David O. Just a couple of weeks ago we learned that he’s producing and starring in the Warner Bros spy-thriller adaptation Dark Invasion, and now comes word that the studio has acquired James Rennar‘s 2012 mystery novel The Man from Primrose Lane and will develop it as a star vehicle for Cooper.

Southland writer Chad Feehan is attached to write the adaptation of the mind-bending story about a true-crime writer named David Neff who finds himself at the center of a ‘chain of serial murders’ while checking out »

Cooper denies Lance Armstrong biopic?

29 January 2013 10:51 AM, PST | RealBollywood.com | See recent RealBollywood news »

Los Angeles, Jan 30: Actor Bradley Cooper has reportedly denied rumours that he is playing the role of Lance Armstrong on the big screen.

It was reported that director J.J. Abrams formally approached the 38-year-old to star in a biopic on cyclist Armstrong's rise and fall from grace.

However, Cooper strongly refuted the claims Sunday night during Screen Actors Guild Awards, reports contactmusic.com.

"No... Oh my God, that's so nuts. I was in Manchester, doing the BBC morning show... I had no idea what (the interviewer) was talking about. I didn't even know that J.J. has the rights, I had no idea," he told accesshollywood.com.

Bradley Cooper Says He Has "No Idea" That J.J. Abrams Is Making A Lance Armstrong Movie

28 January 2013 8:38 AM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Perhaps it's fitting that a movie centering on a man who conned an entire sport and legion of fans and followers, would be this convoluted even before a script was written. But to recap, in brief: Bradley Cooper told the BBC he'd be interested in making a movie about Lance Armstrong. J.J. Abrams says he's already been emailing Cooper about a project that he's developing about the cyclist. And now?  Well, Cooper is now saying that all of this is news to him.“I was in Manchester, doing the BBC morning show… I had no idea what [the interviewer] was talking about,” he told Access Hollywood last night at the SAG Awards. “I didn’t even know that J.J. has the rights, I had no idea.” And once again to drive home the point: “I don’t know anything about it” he says of Abrams' movie. So either Abrams is emailing somebody who isn't Bradley Cooper, »

1.) This first story still has a little explaining to do, but it all began when Entertainment Tonight caught up with J.J. Abrams who is producing a feature film on cyclist Lance Armstrong based on Juliet Macur's forthcoming book "Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong". Abrams led Et to believe Bradley Cooper may be up for the role saying, "Cooper sent me an email and we've been talking." Upon having the news read back to him, however, Cooper seemed dismayed telling Access Hollywood, "Oh my god, that's so nuts! I didnt even know that J.J. has the rights, I had no idea." Cooper's comment is hardly a denial, and a deal probably isn't in place and they are unlikely to comment officially until one is. Beyond that, Cooper may be just embracing Abrams' love of secrecy. Either way, the project is on the table and Cooper may star with Abrams producing. »

Bradley Cooper May Live Strong as Lance Armstrong in J.J. Abrams' Biopic

28 January 2013 8:07 AM, PST | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

Look, J.J. Abrams just doesn't sleep ya'll.

The "Star Trek Into Darkness" director who's also recently signed on to helm Disney's "Star Wars: Episode VII" may have another star-centric project underway. This time, it's about an international sports figure who dropped the ball got caught doing some naughty things on his cycling road to victory.

That man, of course, is Lance Armstrong, who's found his name at the tippy top of many sports pages lately (interrupted just briefly by the perplexing Manti T'eo) thanks to his gobsmacking admission to doping on the race course and winning seven consecutive Tour de France titles. Largely considered a hero for his tireless cancer patient support efforts with the Livestrong Foundation (he himself survived testicular cancer before beginning his victory streak) Armstrong's story has confounded the public and gotten J.J. Abrams on board to produce a biopic based upon his life.
