Rachel Crivella
- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
Rachel Crivella was born to parents Marcelo Crivella and Sylvia
Crivella in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. When she was four, her family moved
to South Africa where they lived for seven years. It was in Africa
where Rachel developed her passion for music, both at church and as a
member of her school's choir. At the age of ten, she began taking piano
lessons and plays to this day. Upon returning to Brazil, Rachel's first
encounter with acting began in middle school with Paula Neeley, an
American drama teacher whom Rachel credits as having turned her into a
lover of theater.
It was also at the age of ten, Rachel recorded professionally for the first time. The track entitled "Minha Infância" was included on her father's album, "Vamos Irrigar o Sertão," of which all the profits of the album went to the social project "Projeto Nordeste" that Mr. Crivella founded in the northeast region of Brazil. Rachel's song, "Minha Infância" became popular among the Christian community as it played on the radio and led her to perform at live events and on television. Rachel went on to record two other tracks on Crivella's albums but refused invitations for launching a solo career.
At the age of seventeen, Rachel began reporting for a local television show in Rio de Janeiro called "Minha Terra Minha Gente Nossa História." Her performance landed her a co-host role in "Gospel Line" alongside Brazilian celebrity Mara Maravilha. The show was nationally and internationally broadcast through Rede Record and Rede Record International. Six months later, at the age of eighteen, Rachel announced her departure from "Gospel Line" in order to pursue higher education at Biola University in Southern California.
In 2009, as part of her required internship program, Rachel worked for the telenovela "Poder Paralelo" at Recnov as a production assistant. She also assisted actors with the correct pronunciation of the English dialog.
Rachel graduated with honors from Biola University in May 2010, with a bachelor of arts degree in Cinema and Media Arts including an emphasis in screen writing.
Later that year, she co-directed her father's television ads for his senate campaign in which he was reelected.
She is also the CEO of Berry Cool Brazil, the international franchise of the American company Berry Cool Frozen Yogurt.
Rachel hopes to produce and star in her own films someday.
